The Real Hero of Season 7: Sam Holt

He was such a fucking badass this season, without him Earth would have been doomed from the very start of the invasion. We never give this amazing man any credit, but DAMN he became a complete legend the second he went against orders and did what was right.

Sam completely upgraded Earth’s tech tens/hundreds of years into the future in only a year, not only that. He decided to train the cadets, not through simulators but through actual flying. He became a leader for millions of people who have lost hope.

He notified the people of Earth about the Galra threat and the need to never give up. He stood as a true leader as many Garrison Generals failed to go into action without any intelligence. He became a united force that was strictly focused on trying to prepare for the war that was most likely going to end in the annihilation of the human race.

Thank you Voltron for Sam. This man is a legend and tbh he was probably my fave character this year. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. #sam is the man

episode 4. this was a really fun episode, and since i really thought it would be a filler, i was pleasantly surprised at things revealed between lance and keith. keith’s cheering lance on with the rest of the team, something he wouldn’t have done in the earlier days of voltron. something small, but notable.

now, here’s the really fun part. the paladins are given the choice of picking the paladin they want to escape from the hellhole that is this family feud set. 

let’s start with body language. i’m only focusing on lance and keith here.

okay, beginning with lance: he’s obviously struggling during this, looking from side to side to see what his teammates are picking. we know who they picked, neither pidge nor hunk chose lance, they chose allura and hunk. 

think about it: HUNK - lance’s best friend from his childhood. ALLURA - lance’s crush throughout the show. two super obvious choices for lance. the fact that lance didn’t choose allura after everything that went down in s6 blows my mind. 

now to keith: he looked pretty set in stone that he was going to pick lance from when the timer started. he doesn’t stutter or look confused, he literally picks up his pencil and starts writing. he already knew, he’d obviously thought about it before - he’d choose lance over anyone else. lance is keith’s first choice.

and a small detail - lance and keith finished writing first. they were the most sure on their answers. allura, hunk and pidge are still writing. that is spectacular.

lance starts off with his shoulders raised, and slouching. he’s sort of shrinking in on himself. and if i know anything about body language, it’s that you cave in on yourself when you’re flustered or embarrassed. he’s not standing straight. (haha.)

lance makes eye contact with keith when he begins, but he breaks away when he smiles. that’s pining. smiling while you break eye contact is an obvious sign of affection. i was shocked when i saw this, i knew it was coming, but i didn’t expect it to be so… blatantly chummy??? hunk and pidge both look shocked. 

now to what he actually said: “he’s our leader, plus he’s half galra”

lance views keith as a leader - more growth since the beginning of the show. “plus he’s half-galra,” stuck out to me though. lance views keith as someone unique, hence being half-galra, and rewinding to season 2 and keith’s heritage, lance never really brought it up… it’s a trait in keith that lance really admires, i think. 

“so i think he’s, like, the future.” 

lance sounds so sincere when speaking. lance truly thinks that keith is a necessary part of their universe. keith is lance’s future.

lance makes the same face at allura in season 4, but even more so at keith.

now to keith. his arms are crossed, he’s closing himself off.

his reason for picking lance is definitely not what he said. we all know he’s a generally reserved guy, and doesn’t like showing emotions - especially not to strangers. a reminder - keith was the first to finish writing. he probably has a lot of different reasons for choosing lance, but i think the main one is - he cares about lance the most. plain and simple.

we usually see lance as the one who won’t show affection toward keith, but this? we’ve seen this face a million times before.

lance and keith are the only two people on the team who chose each other. that says a lot.

  • they briefly introduced adam so they could properly discuss him in season 8 when they have the time (it’s a common thing to see in tv shows and literature)
  • shiro didn’t stop being gay because he lost adam
  • adam’s death wasn’t pointles

“season 7 was disappointing”

  • hunk got the arc we’ve been waiting for
  • the galra were defeated
  • they finally returned to earth
  • lance got to see his familly!!! aaaa!!!

  • matt with a ponytail (+ an alien girlfriend fuck yeah)
  • keith with a ponytail (+ a pacifier and the purest fucking puppy eyes)
  • high quality klance interactions (lance is Whipped)
  • keith sliced sendak like a hot knife to soft butter
  • sniper!!! fucking!!! lance!!! has returned!!! (and keith totally knows he’s the team sharpshooter fuck me up)
  • lotor on the game show episode (is no one gonna talk about the dance he does)
  • veronica, griffin, kinkade, and the others all radiate bde and i love them all with my entire heart and soul
  • keith: “i love you, too, mom”
  • the game show episode in general
  • COLLEEN FUCKING HOLT
  • kosmo is an icon and keith loves that fuckin’ puppy oml he’s so soft
  • romelle is cute as fuck goddamn
  • that one heith moment (it was one of the popsicle things, btw)
  • hunay made a reappearance
  • punk had its moments uwu
  • hunelle has my ass
  • hunk is compatible with so many people wow
  • iverson and keith forgiving each other and that was just a great scene oml

  • the aNIMATION IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT HOW GOOD IT WAS
  • everything about that season is just… mWAH

“they queerbaited us, they’re homophobic, it was an advertising scheme”

  • they know what they’re doing, these writers are talented as hell
  • they know how important rep is to us, and it’s obviously important to them too
  • season 7 was about saving the earth and winning the war against the galra, they didn’t have time to talk about past relationships
  • introducing adam wouldn’t seem that important to someone who doesn’t keep up with the social media, but it’s paving the way for season 8
  • allurance and axca x keith are so forced and sudden that i’m almost certain the forced nature of it is intentional, they’re setting something up for season 8
  • bex is lgbt, the crew is full of allies, they wouldn’t let queerbaiting happen
  • season 7 happened so we could have some peace and time for personal subjects to be brought up in season 8 (i.e. romance, lance’s bi arc, shiro mourning adam, etc)
  • season 8 is still going to happen, don’t give up hope yet, the story isn’t finished
  • they knew people would leave/want to leave the fandom after season 7, but that just goes to show that they have something that would make us really happy in season 8 because they’re smart and know what the fans want
  • adam’s death was so much of a small deal that i know they weren’t finished talking about adam, they’ll address him in season 8

don’t give up. there’s still hope, and the story isn’t over yet. season 8 is going to address all of our concerns, answer all of our questions, and snatch all of our weaves.
