Tbh S8 was amazing and you all are just salty
Welcome to my ted talk about all the good things about S8.
I’d like to say that while I agree there were some parts of the show I didn’t agree with, the majority of the season was amazing.
The plot had me the entire time with Honerva and her secretive goal that we don’t find out until later in the season. Her pain is genuine and I truly feel she was an amazing antagonist. In the end she is heart broken and she feels so out of place in the world- in the entirety of the universe. But she comes to a consensus with Allura and changes her mind. It took her traveling through different times and destroying alternate realities to realize that she can’t change the past. She has to deal with the consequences.
That’s not the only good thing about season 8. There were mind blowing concepts that I thought were amazing and whomever came up with the idea to place the paladins inside Honerva’s mind, and then incorporate the past paladins is baffling. There was so much character growth in this season alone than it took other seasons to do. The paladins truly understood teamwork this season it just took a little while for them to get there. Having met their former paladin selves, even including past Zarkon allowed them to push forward and succeed.
To add on to team work— Shiro with the Atlas and his crew were a big help this season. While at first I was iffy with some of the earth characters coming in to play but i shortly agreed they were vital to the plot. Honerva is a villain they’ve never dealt with before and she was striving for an endgame that they never have had to solve before. Shiro may not be a paladin anymore but he contributes just as much if he were. He just pilots his own thicc meca.
I’m not mad they killed off Allura. I legit cried , not gonna lie, but I believe that the foreshadowing to her death was ample. I noticed it in the beginning of the season and didn’t necessarily question it but as I started to get towards the end I accepted the possibility she may be leaving the show. She was questioning her place, as well, in the universe. Everyone has a family to go back to except her and she openly says that Voltron is her family. While she randomly places herself into Lances arms, I’ll discuss that in a separate post, I do believe that her relationship with Lance meant at least something in the end.
The ending was so sweet. I was so worked up and I am so proud of these characters. I feel like a proud mom lol. They all become incredible figures for everyone to look up to and it’s crazy to think that after their time new paladins will amerge and save the universe once again.
Thank you for listening to my Ted talk- my salty post is coming soon so be ready for that.
