In know we’re upset over vld season 7, but it’s a mess right now. While I agree that Voltron did stink it up this recent season, I feel that a large part of the fandom has sort of blown up out of proportion.
I’m just as sad as everyone else that Adam died pretty much immediately after we were introduced to him and introduced to the lgbt rep between him and Shiro, but I feel as if calling voltron homophobic or queer baiting is unnecessary. Yes it’s upsetting but who knows exactly why he was killed off. It could have been directly for the plot: Shiro’s past with Adam consisting of Adam not wanting his bf to go out in space with his illness and a subtle foreshadowing of Adams death when he said if Shiro went he wouldnt be there to greet him back. It’s tragic when that becomes a reality and when Shiro arrives at the Garrison with the others to find out his partner died. Of course I’m not completely dissing the fact that Voltron killed the only lgbt cannon representation in the show but we have no clue if there will be more. We have a whole other season guys.
A part I agree with is how lame Hunk’s arc was. I feel as if they should’ve taken the random scenes with Lance and Allura and put that time into Hunk’s character development.(I’ll go over Lance and Allura later) Hunk has been deserving an ark forever and we finally get one that consists of some leadership roles and a few flashbacks. We’ve noticed how Hunk has grown over the past two seasons but I feel as if he was written no different than that. He is on a journey to get his family but is unable to and then is turned back to saving the earth. The least they could’ve done was give him his parents- then he would be rejuvenated and even more ready to fight because he is whole again.
Okay, I’m not an anti shipper of Lance and Allura, but I want to discuss what the heck is happening in season 7. Allura was into Lotor and even went further as to kissing him just to find out he was inslaving the last bit of altaens to suck the living juice out of them. So after six seasons of rejecting Lance’s feelings, and even figuring out about his crush in the last season, she still rejects him. So now that Lotor is out of the picture, she is starting to crawl her way into Lance’s feelings and it’s not okay. It’s unfair how she is teating him in this season. He’s been interested in her for the longest time and he’s her second choice. It’s unfair how she is playing with her heart.
Speaking of second choice, the klance in this season wasn’t as much as I’d hoped it would be. Voltron said Lance would end up with someone he needed, not wanted, and that he’d be someone’s first choice. You’ve probably seen tons of posts over klance being end game and it does make sense. I won’t get into it or else I’d have to split this post in two. What I want to discuss are the little things. During the game show episode where lance and Keith chose each other- lance’s comment over the fact that he thought Keith was the future??? That’s beautiful and yet Keith responds pretty rudely but it’s just bad writing. They could’ve had a legit response to why he chose Lance. I mean, did anyone else notice how soft Keith had looked through out the whole episode and in that only moment he grumpily frowns? But another thing I’d like to point out is all the little actions that Keith is giving lance. Not hunk, or pidge, or even Allura, but lance specifically. So with this growing trust and friendship growing why toss in Allura and for some reason Acxa who we’ve only seen Keith interact with her like twice. It doesn’t add up. If Keith ends up with Lance in the end it will be his first choice so why add some random galra chick who has been against them as of late?
So don’t yell at me after reading this because we are all entitled to our own opinions. I understand completely why there is an uproar in the fandom right now toward the seventh season but I feel as if a large portion of us have given up on the show over this saying that is is the worst and that you’re never watching it again. It’s sad. Do none of us remember the good parts of the show? The past two seasons have been fantastic and the plot has been crazy. There have been pretty weak seasons before and this unfortunately is one of them. Just have faith and believe the show will turn out for the better. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk lol

honestly, i’m a klance shipper. and frankly, i’m fucking annoyed. i’m not gonna call queerbaiting, but i just want to express how fucking pissed i am.
keith was gay-coded, so, so gay-coded. and his interactions with lance were, in fact, romantically coded. i couldn’t care less if klance didn’t become canon, but i don’t understand why you kill off the one of only confirmed LGBT+ characters in the show and then take a man that was HEAVILY gay-coded and pair him with some female that he has had 2 interactions with throughout the season, neither of them romantically coded at all. this is literally the voltron writers pulling some heteronormative bullshit out of their asses and forcing someone who was heavily coded as gay rep into some heterosexual relationship out of fucking nowhere.
i prefer heith, hell, i prefer sheith over this. i’m not just being butthurt. but we got one scene that didn’t even CONFIRM rep, it had to be confirmed OUTSIDE OF THE SHOW. there was no point in keeping hopeful LGBT+ watchers on their toes in hopes of LGBT+ rep if it’s such a minor scene that you CAN’T EVEN TELL that it’s an LGBT+ relationship. and then, you kill off half of that LGBT+ rep, leaving no room for any reunion of a relationship that we got hyped up for. for nothing. they’re forcing heterosexuality onto LGBT+ coded characters. where’s our LGBT arc with shiro and lance, huh? lauren montgomery drew official art that corresponded with the show that hinted at an LGBT arc involving shiro and lance, and by the pattern, there should’ve been an arc. now shiro’s significant other is dead, now apparently allura likes lance back, and they’re hinting st keith and axca. is shiro suddenly gonna get in a relationship in s8 after all that shit went down? is that supposed to be our “LGBT rep”? i’m just. so fucking done.
Listen, Keith TOTALLY had a gay panic when he noticed that Lance had voted for him and on top of that , he complimented him ?? So fondly and wholeheartedly?? Our gay disaster had to resort to the “get out of my school” tactic bc wow. ?
