bunnix: in the future, i’m a part of ladybug and chat noir’s superhero team. that is to say, the ladybug and chat noir that you’ll become. because for the time, you’re much more minibug and chaton noir. in the team, i’m the heroine of last resort. we call on me when everyone has failed.
cn: but we just released you, right? that means that you failed too.
bunnix: no. that was your fault. or to be exact, it will be. in the future, your cataclysm will accidentally damage my miraculous.
I am highly interested in the upcoming game of who will be manipulating who in this alliance between Lila and Gabriel.
Let me be clear. Lila is thinking she has won over Gabriel Agreste and can manipulate him like everyone else to give her what she wants. But little does Lila seem to realize Gabriel is actually playing her game. I don’t think Lila is realizing he knows she is a liar and that is a serious advantage Gabriel has over her. He can give her things that she wants, giving her some leasure or mirroring it is possible she can have something, while not fully satisfying her on purpose in order to use her.
As of now, Gabriel is the one in control, but with time, Lila can still surprise him and tilt the scale. As Hawkmoth, he never expected this girl to convince an akumatized villain who was against her do her bidding. That was an awesome move on Lila’s part, and I understand why Gabriel was impressed and wants to make her an ally in order to defeat Ladybug, but it also gives a glimpse on how dangerous she can become without even receiving superpowers.
I think Gabriel understands the risks and will circonscribe those as much as possible, but I’m sure Lila has many more tricks hidden in her sleeves and Gabriel might learn about those the hard way. Nathalie might act as a voice of reason as she will probably distrust Lila even though Gabriel will ensure her he has everything under control. And this overconfidence of Gabriel might be his downfall as main villain of the show since he will probably underestimate Lila and fails miserably trying to balance the risk he took. A risk that yet again is involving his son.
Lila cares about no one else but herself. She doesn’t care if she hurts others in order to get what she wants. Gabriel is pretty much the same regarding his scheme of creating supervillain in order to get Ladybug and Chat Noir miraculous and if that means terrorizing the whole city of Paris in the process, so be it! However, unlike Lila, he has one weakness limiting him : Adrien.
Gabriel pushes his own limit because no pain, no gain as the saying goes. He thinks the goal justifies the means but that doesn’t mean he likes taking those risks. (Though I admit not letting his son dies is pretty much the strictest minimum of common decency). Gabriel also frequently puts aside his own feelings because he thinks they make him weak, that they will meddle with his objective : bringing Emilie back for Adrien’s sake. Not even for Gabriel’s own sake as he will probably not even benefits from the wish he wants to make.
Gabriel is also capable of regrets and can question himself about his actions although he will quickly dismiss them because they are getting in the way, especially when there is a new opportunity shining right in front of him.
Not Lila. She plays the victim when confronted but that what it is : an act. It is not cowardice. It is not regret. She is buying herself time before coming back with a stronger charge. It is always calculated.
So, yeah, their dynamic will be entertaining. At least, for me, because I love both characters as villains. And I wouldn’t worry about Adrien. Not after his conclusion in Oni-Chan. Adrien is less naive. He has realized Lila is not simply a person who lies in order to get attention. She is far worse. She lies to use people. That’s the part he has failed to grasp in Chameleon because he didn’t witness that side of her and Marinette didn’t inform him of what has happened in the bathroom. So if he can help it, he will avoid Lila. If not, he will remain polite but distant. His behavior around her is already much more different than how he interacts with Marinette, Nino, Chloé, Kagami or even Wayhem.
In Chameleon, when he could sit elsewhere than next to Lila at the end of the episode, he took it. First with Marinette to support her, then back with Nino because he is his best friend. In Oni-Chan, at the end, he better establishes his limits to Lila.
His lines are respectfully :
“Désolé, c’est l’heure de l’escrime” (Sorry,
it’s time for my fencing lessons)
“Et puis, t’es trop forte en calcul”* (And you are too strong in math)
“On ne joue pas dans la même cour” (We don’t play in the same league)
He first finds a good excuse. Then add that Lila is too strong “en calcul”. The direct translation would be “calculus” I am however unsure if that sentence would have made sense in English (thus why I went with the word math in my translation). However, in French, this sentence has a double meaning. It still relates to the math subject they have talked earlier but this time around Adrien specifies “calculus”, as in “calculating” as in “calculating a situation to take advantage of”. This is further pushed when he says they don’t play in the same league. Adrien likes to help people to make them happy while Lila uses people to achieve her own happiness. And he wants to dissociate himself from her.
He also pushes her hand from his shoulder, refusing her contact, refusing her pushing herself in.
“Nathalie et mon garde du corps ont été réprimandés par ta faute, Lila” (Nathalie and my bodyguard were scolded because of you, Llla)
“Lila, tu peux compter sur moi sauf si tu blesses les gens que j’aime” ( Lila, you can count on me except if you hurt the people I love.)
He also explains why he’s distancing himself from her to make things clear between them. He is still ready to help her, because he likes to help others when they ask him to, but he specifies where he draws the line. If helping Lila means it will caused problems for the people he cares about or upset them, he will not help her (and this will probably echoes back when Adrien learn the truth about his father)
Basically, take Marinette’s hint : trust Adrien. He too has grown since the beginning of the school year.
Lila might be up to isolate Adrien so she can have him for herself as being his only friend. Thing is, Adrien is not alone. He has Marinette who also knows Lila is a liar and who sees through her act. Plus, Marinette is approved by Gabriel in a way. He has acknowledged her talent for design and has invited to participate in his fashion show. So I don’t think he considers her as a bad influence. Neither does he seem to think so of Kagami, but in her case, maybe it is because he needs her mother for something. So, for her, I am not entirely sure.
In other words, what Adrien needs in order to be safe is to able to break the isolation he is put in. And I consider Marinette as his biggest support to help him there.
In Silencer, did anyone else perceive Chat Noir’s jokes as his way to cheer up Ladybug? Lift a bit of her worries or at least, change her mind. He knows how much weights she has on her shoulders.
Just look at her dread expression.
His jokes might have been consider inappropriate due to the timing and situation at hand BUT it was also him trying to be funny that helped LB find a solution. It was his “maybe I could try to mimic your voice” joke that lead her to her plan. After that, she starts smiling and be confident again. And Chat also stops joking and focus on the job afterward.
silencer au where silencer does get ladybug’s miraculous, but upon seeing it’s marinette behind the mask- marinette, who stood up for him and their friends, who he allowed himself to be akumatized to defend- is horrified by what he’s done because he told her he wouldn’t hurt her, ignored her pleas to not be on hawk moth’s side, and turned right around to fight ladybug- to fight her
and it’s devastating and he falls to his knees and releases the voices, and when she gets hers back he looks up with such a sadness in his eyes and hands the miraculous back, even against hawk moth’s shouting
and when he’s luka again, he doesn’t remember a thing, but the tears linger on his cheeks and he’s not sure why they’re there, but ladybug helps him up with a sort of sad smile and points him where to go (where she’ll meet him as marinette)
and maybe one day she’ll tell him just what happened, but until then, she’s content to know that he truly does love her enough for even his villain side to surrender for her sake
I noticed something subtle in the exchange Lukanette had with Bob Roth and XY.
Here’s Marinette while Luka speaks up, angrily, about XY stealing Marinette’s designs.
She’s a bit shocked at first, but gets riled up and becomes more angered herself. Now, maybe the initial shock is because she’s never seen Luka agitated before. Or… maybe because she has never heard anyone else be so defensive of HER work before? Maybe because she’s never heard anyone just straight up defend her (and her honor) before? Not that it never happened, but maybe not in front of Marinette????
In contrast, this is Luka as Marinette is defending his music.
Doesn’t glance once at her. He’s just staring XY and Bob down. Honestly, I think the kid is more pissed about Marinette’s art being stolen than he is about his own creative.

(Also, cheers to Marinette, who is equally more pissed about Luka’s song being ripped off than she is about her mask design being swiped)
Summary: After the events of Oblivio, something about Chat Noir and Ladybug’s kiss forged a bond that draws them together, despite their memory loss. Meanwhile, the universe seems insistent that Marinette and Adrien reunite, but this has some drawbacks. Namely, they can’t seem to stop holding hands.
At school the day after Oblivio, Adrien is cramming books into his locker when it happens. There’s a tingle against his right palm, like wind passing across his skin. Bewildered, he looks around, wondering if maybe it’s a draft from one of the windows, but none of them are open. Nobody else seems to have had the curious sensation, because the hallway is bustling with students going about their normal routines. It’s a normal Wednesday for everyone else. But yesterday wasn’t normal for Adrien.
Yesterday, he kissed Ladybug, and can’t for the life of him figure out how it happened.
He does one more glance around, and the tingling intensifies into a distinct warmth. As if someone is holding his hand. He nearly drops his book bag and glances over his shoulder again, wondering if this is some kind of medical emergency. Is this a symptom for something? Maybe he should have paid more attention in anatomy.
Then he notices Marinette. She has her locker door open, so he can’t see her face, but she is opening and closing her left hand, as if she’s having the same problem. Adrien finishes unloading his books, grabs his math notes, and wanders over to her. She closes her locker door at that very moment, and suddenly they’re face to face. Her eyes widen and she jumps back, arms flailing. A few students around them duck to avoid getting hit.
“Agh! You scared me! How long have you been standing there?”
He can’t help but smile. “Sorry! Not long, I literally just walked up.”
“Oh. Hi?”
“Hi.” He’s never really noticed before, but Marinette’s eyes are really, really blue. Like the ocean. Peaceful, deep, mysterious. A riptide, pulling him in.
“D-Did you…need something?”
He blinks, startled. “Oh right.” Now that he thinks about it, it feels weird to ask if something’s wrong with her hand. “Uh, never mind.”
They stare at each other awkwardly for a moment, before Adrien’s hand moves of its own volition. It seems Marinette’s does the same thing, because the hands meet mid-distance between them and interlock fingers. They both stare in horror; they’re holding hands.
Never mind how right it feels to be connected to her (which…why is Adrien even thinking that?), this should not be happening. What is going on?
Adrien wrestles his hand away, which is harder than he expected. It’s like pulling two strong magnets apart. He feels strangely disappointed when he’s finally able to get free, though this thought is quickly surpassed by the fact that he is completely mortified. “I…I am so sorry. I have no idea what just happened.”
“Me either,” Marinette says faintly. “We should…um…go to class.”
“Yeah.”
They part eagerly, and Adrien doesn’t have to look in the reflection of the glass door to his classroom to know his face is beet red. And the worst thing? The curious sensation of someone holding his hand is still there. And it’s getting worse.
