I’m going to say this loud and clear, and I don’t want to cause a commotion but I simply want to say
there’s no reason for people to be upset over leakira because it’s “disrespectful” to the show creators.
Yes, it’s undeniably rude to shove this in the vld writers and DW’s face as a way to prove something, but in the case of the creation itself, NO, it DOESNT.
You know it’s not, going to be an ACTUAL TV show or whatnot right? the fandom isn’t going to hire a big studio or corporation going to make defenders of the future. It’s literally a “FAN CREATION” based off of voltron.
Common 👏Sense 👏
FNAF has many well made fangames (most notably Nixon’s games) Scott Cawthon, FNAF’s creator didn’t give them shit.
Camilla Cuveas created her own animated series based off Undertale called “Glitchtale”, another well made fan creation. Toby Fox, creator of Undertale didn’t give Camila shit either.
If these are acceptable, why isn’t “Defenders of Tomorrow” acceptable?
Mind you, Fan creations don’t have to be only applicable to video games.
This au has lot’s of potential, and no, it’s NOT going to drive people to ignore the show itself and direct it’s attention FULLY on Defenders of the Future, in fact, it’s only growing people’s love for the show as it has a fanbase of many, MANY talented people.
If anything, it’s in honor of vld as it is coming to it’s conclusion, and it would be nice to get some more voltron related content, even if that may be produced by the fandom itself. It’s literally like any other fanfiction or au (aside that it’s gaining immense amounts of popularity and has spawned a team if not the entire klance fandom contributing to it’s creation.) And yes, they also made it with intention to revive klance, but almost like a coping mechanism or something to cheer up the fandom without having to harm others.
Yes, on the flipside there are fans who are extremely aggravated and aggressive towards the vld
creators, but the writers of this reboot au have EXPLICITLY stated that they did NOT create the reboot because they dislike DW or the writers, it was made solely for fun and to lighten up the klance fanbase God, I know that there are fans who are complete douchebags because the possibility of their ship not being canon, but there’s also people that just, have to be have to pick a fight or have some sort of argument when the fandom is beginning to made amends and actually for once come together to create something amazing. TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN
ffs, let the fandom have fun. It’s much better than having a fandom of pessimistic fans being upset over klance “not being canon” (Quotations because we don’t even know who Lance’s endgame is, voltron is still an ongoing show, chill your buttholes.) Just be happy that the fandom is flipping the bird and not caring about whether it’s canon or not, and just continue to use their talents as a way to cope and make others happy. As of currently now, nothing has gone out of hand and likely nothing will.
I repeat. It’s a fun, wholesome project that isn’t intended to hurt anyone. It’s a source of comfort for those recovering from s7. Idk why people don’t have the brain capacity to understand this.
edit:
here’s confirmation from the au creators themselves:
Thank you for coming to my ted talk owo
edit: also I noticed that everyone’s getting mad at the fact the story “isn’t good” and that it’s not “original”, “raw” or “realistic”. Again, it’s AN AU. It’s intended to feature the same aspects of VLD (literally the only thing that’s changed is the setting, a somewhat change in character design, endgames, some relationships, LGBTQ rep, and names, everything else remains the same on purpose.) for the millionth time, It’s for fun. Plus, the story hasn’t even been written, and yet people are literally angry by this. The creators proposed it, and as mentioned, there’s no actual “”reboot”” happening. There’s literally only ideas and interpretations circulating the fandom, nothing beyond crazy.
