Here are finished designes of the most important/influencial characters (excluding Mephiles, whom I might draw later with the leftover characters, if this post gets pop enough)

Okay the main question might be ‘Why a Time Keeper’ well here a Time Keeper, as the title might suggest, guards the time itself, so it doesn’t get into someone’s hands. The pocket clock Sonic has in his pocket is the source of time, or rather what keeps the time going. It’s a fancy artifact existing since ancient conquerors of this dimention discovered it. Most of the time the clock is insterted in the Time’s Gate (It’s not a gate, but rather a huge, living machine, which by looks reminds of Howl’s Moving Castle, cause that’s where I took inspiration for it) I’ll sometimes refer to it as ‘the lair’

Here are short descriptions about the characters and their roles in the AU:

Sonic: The Time Keeper. He was born a few centuries ago (around 3-4), but since he has been chosen to become the next Time Keeper, he couldn’t meet the fate mortals meet. There’s much more to his story, buuuut I doubt many care. It might appear on the next post. He is unable to leave the Time’s Gate, but when he does the time seems to stop, since he needs to take the clock with himself. Most of the time he does that, when he sees lone children. He hates seeing orphants and will welcome any into his heart.
It’s worth mentioning his outfit is from his original times, thus it’s pretty worn out, tho well conserved. You just can’t get rid of the older stains. The red stuff’s blood from war, but he denied to change the shirt.

Shadow: To be honest the main main protagonist of the story. He comes from a poor family, while his sister (I bet you know who) is deadly sick. In order to get what’s needed for her treatment he needs to get a lot of money. He finds it hard to get a well-paid job which would allow him to get enough money before she passes away. He was looking desperately, until he met Mephiles, which offered him one ‘simple’ job to do, and his sister would be saved. It was to steal the Time Keeper’s clock. Shadow obviously had no idea what that is*

Amy: She was taken in by Sonic, when he found her sick in winter, when she was 5 years old and almost dead from cold. The pendant she wears is from her mother, which died from desease. Now she takes care of her foster father, who tends to forget about things he’s suppoused to do, like eating or sleeping (or bathing) becouse he remembers too much of the past. She also, with Blaze, keeps the castle clean and sometimes goes shopping as well, tho whenever Sonic sees her go out alone, he stops her right away. She’s a pretty stubborn girl.

Silver: Also adopted by Sonic, but as an infant. He trains with Sonic, so he can become the next Time Keeper. Sonic has never let him get off the Time’s Gate, since when he found Silver, the poor baby was all beaten up, tho Silver wouldn’t dare anyway. he simply doesn’t know much about thsi world and is quite scared of it. In the lair he feels safe becouse that’s where he was raised. He’s pretty closed, but when he starts talking about something he’s into, he can talk for hours. He and Amy are considering themself twins, even though they’re not even the same age. They just get along well.

Blaze: She looks like just a maid/cleaning lady, but her role on Time’s Gate is much more important. yes, she cleans, but she also cooks for all the children in the lair, and helps other maids (Vanilla and Wave) raise the youngest ones. She also sometimes goes shopping with Amy and the other ladies, tho she’s pretty cynical about the outside.
She’s also Sonic’s personal protector/guardian and won’t let anyone get into the lair, without the trust of another resident.
Also no makeup on this version.

* Time’s Gate is invisible to people who don’t believe in its existence. Most of the time only children, who heard the legend/story about it have a chance to see. Adults (and children whom have a harder time living, like Shadow) often don’t have time to believe in such things. They or consider those made up stories, or never heard of it, like in shadow’s case. Adults who have seen the lair walking around when kids often forget about this event over the years, while they gain the ability to diffrent reality from imagination. They’ll consider it to be a creation of their immature brains and move on
