based on origins spoilers, the first marichat scene means so much more to me!!!!
adrien messed up his first interaction with marinette, and at the point of evillustrator I bet he still sees her as being pretty awkward and strange around him bc of it. his shocked face at seeing marinette is the girl ladybug wants him to protect makes so much more sense to me now. to protect the girl he offended so badly the first time they met? his first friend. he can’t mess up their first meeting a second time.
so adrien goes so extra to leave an excellent first impression on marinette as chat noir: kissing her hand &calling her princess, flexing & being heroic, pulling her close & bestowing her as his ladybug for the mission so she thinks chat noir is a cool guy from the get go. so that when she thinks of meeting chat noir for the first time, it’s how he treated her like a gentleman and not how there was a big misunderstanding like him leaving gum on her seat.
adrien coming over to ask marinette what she thought about chat the next day is just SO MUCH MORE!!!
“so … that’s a yes…” it’s adrien absorbing what marinette just stuttered out. marinette likes chat, he didn’t mess up this time, she doesn’t hate him!!! then he pats her shoulder and walks away with a smile.
like imagine how pleased he is that marinette says that not only chat is a cool guy, but that he’s not as cool as adrien? that their mess of a first interaction is behind them, AND that she likes chat noir just fine.
things are a-okay with his first amie and adrien agreste is pleased.
