okay, goddamn. that episode was only good for two things, and those were fu showing up and the fact chat noir apparently has the instinct to lick himself like an actual cat.
i mean, what the heck was that??? ignoring the very-implausible-but-okay-not-impossible fact that kwami can get sick like real living creatures (up till now it’s been implied they were more manifestations of energy than anything else) and completely inconvenience their miraculous holders, the lack of exploration of prince ali’s character, no explanation of WHY ADRIEN WAS MISSING AT THE BEGINNING (i don’t think that was explained in the script, though i could have missed something), and the very poor utilisation of the chance to get the entire cast singing - chat noir gets possessed, turned into an enemy and pretty fucking senselessly beaten up by ladybug AGAIN? and while it is marinette’s first “powerless and arguably useless” episode, which was a nice dynamic flip, she STILL manages to outshine/outperform/generally outdo adrien even when he’s in full costume and should fairly be getting his time to shine in ladybug’s absence? you know, like all the times she’s shone when he’s unable to fight?
there were good factors going on within the rest of the story and i can’t argue that rose was an interesting (and very cute) akuma, but overall this was just another episode to utterly shit on chat noir as a solo superhero; it was pathetic! added to deslocœur and le marionnettiste that makes three times he’s become the villain, and that’s not even scratching the surface of the slew of episodes that he only existed in to be a punching bag ladybug needed to save.
i don’t know, i really don’t like this. it’s a bad trend which looks more like a writing element to boost up ladybug’s importance than an actual plot point they’re going to explore later (i don’t really know how to explain it, but it’s along the lines of the imbalance being clear to the viewers but never addressed by the characters, implying it’s not something noticeable enough to focus on - does that make sense?). they could be planning to address all this in the future, but right now the kids’ values are completely unbalanced, and when they’re supposed to be equal characters in this show this is just really, really, really disappointing to see for yet another week, especially when the season is so close to finishing without any sign of turning the dynamic around.
geez, and to think i was so excited for this episode. i want my day and a half of waiting back.

I feel like Gamer aired too soon
lets be real the most important part of the episode was when mr butler guy doofed the mayor with the broom
