The light of the full moon shined brightly on the city of Paris. People all over the world addressed this place as the city of love. For a certain Feline superhero, it felt more like the city of unrequited love.

Chat noir stared at the moon from the roof of the Louvre. Something about the location always made the cat hero feel at peace. But tonight, it was not doing much for him.

It has been almost an entire year since he and Ladybug had started fighting evil. Yet he still could not win over the woman’s heart.

Ladybug, the red clad hero always made his heart pound. Whether it was looking at her confident ocean blue eyes. The way she easily dodged enemy attacks while moving with grace. Her angel like features that made the blonde teen have no doubt that there was some Devine creator to make such beauty. There was so much to this one girl that he had fallen for. Yet he knew that she did not return his feelings.

He tried flirting with her, asking her out. He even finally managed to confess his feelings for her just after defeating an akuma. But, he was declined him each time. The words she said after this last attempt stuck with him.

I am flattered, and I do care about you a great deal. But my heart belongs to another.

The words echoed loudly in his mind. Who could this guy be? What did he have that he lacked? Was he right for the woman he loved? Could he make her happy?

His thoughts circled around his mind. He needed someone he could talk to.

Suddenly an idea popped into the cat’s head. Perhaps there was someone he could talk to.

Marinette was wide awake as she laid in her bed. She had felt guilty for what had happened earlier today.

After defeating an Akuma with her partner Chat noir. The feline hero confessed his feelings for her, more specifically, her hero identity, Ladybug.

Marinette had decided to tell him the truth about her feelings, not wanting to lie or give him false hope. She did care for the cat hero, but she was in love with Adrien. She just couldn’t give the him false hope that they would be together, it didn’t feel right.

Suddenly she heard a tapping on her window.

She got up from her bed and opened the window to see non other than the black cat that was haunting her thoughts.

“Chat Noir?” Marinette asked in surprise, quickly covering her mouth, praying she didn’t wake up her parents.

“I am sorry to wake you princess, but is it alright if I talk to you?” Chat noir asked softly.

Marinette looked at the teen’s eyes. She could see he was hurt, and needed someone to talk to. She could feel that part of this was her fault, well at least, her hero side’s fault.

“Okay.” Marinette gave in. “But not here, I don’t want to wake my parents.”

Chat noir smiled as he picked up the girl Bridal style.

“I know the purrfect place.” Chat noir said as he began carrying her out the window. Marinette managed to snag a jacket just before the cat jumped out her window.

Chat noir headed a few blocks away from her house. The two were on a rooftop that had a beautiful view of the city. Marinette had seen it more then a dozen times, but she had to pretend this was new to her. It helped that it was still a great view.

“Wow, this is incredible.” Marinette said with wonder.

“I figured you would love it Princess.” Chat noir said with a cheeky grin.

Marinette pretended to compose herself before speaking to the cat.

“May I ask what you needed to talk about?” Marinette asked as she turned to the cat hero.

Chat noir’s cheeky grin calmed down.

“I confessed my feelings to My lady.” He said with a calm tone. Marinette stared at the teen closely. She could see he was hurting, he didn’t want to show it. But rejection hurts.

“I am sorry to hear that. Did she explain why?” Marinette asked, knowing full well the answer.

“She said that she had fallen for another guy.” Chat noir said with his face now having a saddened calm.

“I am sorry to hear that.” Marinette said as she walked close to the boy.

“I hope the guy treats her right.” Chat noir said as he lightened up a bit.

Marinette stopped moving as she stared at the boy.

“You mean you aren’t going to try an intervene with it?” Marinette asked in confusion.

Chat noir looked at the girl and smiled softly.

“Did you expect me to find out who the guy is and threaten him? Do I look like a mangy Alley cat to you?” Chat noir joked slightly, a bit hurt by the girl’s comment.

“I didn’t mean that. I meant that you aren’t going to try and change her mind about the guy?” Marinette explained.

“I would if I could princess. But when you are in love, it isn’t easy to change your mind. If my Lady loves this guy even half as much as I love her, then who am I to get in her way?” Chat noir said as he sat down and leaned back at the stars.

Marinette looked at Chat noir as he stared at the stars. She finally understood how in love the Cat was with her. It wasn’t some infatuation or flirty crush like she thought. Chat noir was in love with her that he just wanted her to be happy. She was seeing the cat in a new light. It made her heart beat speed up.

“You really are a good person. You deserve someone that loves you like you love Ladybug.” Marinette said. “I am so sorry.”

Chat noir looked up to see the teen had tears streaming down her face. The cat quickly embraced the crying teen.

“You don’t need to apologize for something that isn’t your fault Princess. If anything, I should be sorry for burdening you with my unrequited love story.” Chat noir said as he comfortingly patted her back. “Please stop crying princess, tears are not becoming of one with such beauty.”

Chat noir released the hug to see the girl look at him. She wiped her tears and smiled at the cat.

“How about I take you home?” Chat noir said with a cheeky grin.

Chat noir carried the girl back to her room window. He gently dropped her off.

“Thank you princess.” Chat noir said as he bowed and kissed her hand lightly.

“If you ever need to talk. You can talk to me.” Marinette said with a smile.

Chat noir looked at the girl.

“If I had met you first, perhaps I would have fallen for you.” Chat noir said sincerely before leaving.

Marinette felt her face heat up as she watched the cat run from rooftop to rooftop.

Tikki heard the noise and got up from the bed.

“Marinette? What is going on?” The Ladybug clad Kwami asked curiously.

Marinette didn’t answer, she simply looked out with her face red and heart pounding, at the very cat she had turned down hours before.
