some of my fonder memories from the glory days of the homestuck fandom:

  • ke$hastuck and fandomstuck and guidestuck
  • endless crystalmethequins covers/remixes
  • octopimp videos
  • people having update cosplays completed within literal hours
  • “homestuck is my favorite anime”
  • pretending squiddles was a real show
  • scouring the nearest convenience stores for faygo
  • quietly slipping ww’s and vv’s into your texts or using eight of a letter/punctuation mark consecutively just in case
  • dante basco meeting up with homestucks wherever he went
  • fandom-wide debates over how long someone’s sleeves were
  • update art on goggles
  • the internet imploding every 4/13
  • “eridan is a metaphor for the obama administration”
  • when you went to a con in homestuck cosplay and anyone else in homestuck cosplay was instantly your friend and you could hang out for the rest of the day and go to the photoshoot together
  • really just seeing people with homestuck shirts on anywhere and being instantly friends, that fandom may have been a mess but hell if it wasn’t the best fun any of us ever had

  • Once upon a time, ‘tentabulge’ fics were RARE.

  • God I miss the old LJ Kinkmeme and Filladex (bless those who ran it)
  • ‘Got Tiger’
  • The rush to watch Cascade on stream with the few people who caught it when it was first posted

  • The first few Omeagle and Tinychat Promstucks, where everyone asked their quadrants over tumblr.

  • PUTTING CHARACTERS FACES ON REGULAR GIFS OF ANYTHING

  • going to a homestuck photo shoot at a con between years 2011-2013 and being absolutely horrified but also overwhelmed with joy
  • singing “how do i live without you” at cons and feeling complete

  • using the word “strife” in a real life conversation for the first time
  • everyone was drawn skinny and white in fanart
  • the Fanart Goldmine of 2011
  • “Ask ______” blogs
  • that one fanmade audio post of feferi reacting to sollux’s death and eridan shooting her in the gut
  • homestuck vs hetalia
  • when snoop dog received fanart of himself with nepeta and meulin and he posted it on instagram
  • davejade existed
  • we thought rose was straight
  • and was gamtav not everything we had
  • “with equius”
  • solfef vs erifef vs erisol
  • hometuck updates at 12am on a school night

  • staying up until four in the morning playing as meenah in those damn updates where you walked around and met all the dancesters and nothing was more important in your life
  • when there was a time when everything made a little more sense and yet made no sense at all and things seemed so simple and kinds stupid and exciting and we were seen as some kind of cult because no one could quite understand all the inside jokes or the plotline until they read the comic and that feeling of belonging and togetherness was like nothing i had ever felt from any other fandom i had ever been in and no other fandom i will be in will ever compare to that of homestuck’s
  • when we never imagined it could end but now the end is three weeks away and im handling it much better than my 17 year old self would ever allow lol

So @jeananasartblog​ and I are now organizing @menons-la-danse-zine​ - A collective ML charity zine with the theme of ‘dance’ where 100% of digital and physical copy proceeds will go to charity (Charity TBA). I think we can make it a big success like the lovely @ladybugzine and make a solid donation! :)
