“Yes, that is the current situation.” Oddball answered, without a trace of sarcasm. “…If you would, please?”

“R-right!” Truffles squeaked. “Ahem. B-Back in a jiffy, Oddy.”

Truffles’ thoughts were a manic whirlwind as she went to fetch a clean towel from Cupcake’s kitchen cabinets. “You’ve been making an odd high pitched noise with your eyes closed. Also, you’re sweating.” Oddball regarded her. “…A lot.”

“Oh? A-am I?” Truffles fingers flew to her forehead, but Odd nudged her hand away. He lifted the still unused towel to her face, and wiped gently at her brow. Their eyes met, and Oddball smiled down at her, slow and sweet. Truffles felt her heart sing.

Damn it all, Truffles wept internally.
