the real author dazai osamu was born into a wealthy family in 1909 and was considered an exceptional student. unfortunately, he later neglected his studies, eventually becoming an alcoholic and later suffering an addiction to painkillers. he made several failed suicide attempts until succeeding at a double suicide in 1948.
