so sorry its been a long wait! got this idea suddenly!
She watched him struggle to open the sugar packet across the table for almost a full minute now. She noticed it was an exceptionally hard packet to open (even if her boyfriend wasn’t on the strongest side) she knew if he hadn’t chopped his nails the shortest they could possibly be, he would be able to get it him.
Her manicured hand gently reached over and took the packet from his hand, and with one swoop of her long nail, the pesky packet tore.
“Thanks.” He mumbled, pouring the sugar into his cup. “Have you started Mr. White’s paper yet?” He typed quickly on his laptop.
“I’m about a page in.” She responded, eyeing his computer. “Are we here to work?”
“I figured.” He replied. “We don’t have to, did you bring your laptop?”
“Yeah, I did.” She pulled it out of her designer bag.
“Pacifica!” A voice called, alerting the couple to the group of four walking over. Dipper recognized them as some of her cheerleading friends and their boyfriends. The popular crowd at Gravity Falls High. “Thought that was you.” The girl looked at Dipper briefly. “Hi.”
“Hey.” He went back to typing.
“So you going to the bonfire tomorrow night? It’s supposed to be the last nice day out before fall really kicks in.”
“I would, but Dipper and I are going to the drive-in.” Pacifica replied, shrugging at her friends. They group looked over to Dipper quickly.
“You guys can go to the drive-in anytime. Come out.” The other girl perked up.
Pacifica eyed Dipper, but his eyes fixed on his computer. “We’ll think about it.”
The girls smiled at Pacifica and said their goodbyes. Once they were gone, Pacifica stared at him. “What was that about?”
“What?”
“You ignoring my friends.” She rolled her eyes. “I know you aren’t a huge fan, but they were trying to be nice by inviting you.”
“They just want you to go.” He continued to type. “I’d just be following you around all night anyway. We can cancel the drive-in if you want to go so bad.”
She clicked her tongue. “Dipper, no, that’s not what this is about.”
“Isn’t it though? If you want to skip, be my guest, we can go some other time.” Dipper stated plainly.
“What’s wrong?” Pacifica begged. “Talk to me. Why are you upset?”
He finally looked up at her and he broke. “Your friends look at me like I’m not supposed to be with you.”
“What?”
“They don’t try to get to know me, I’m not even sure they know my name.”
“That’s not-“
“When we first started dating, I overheard those two talking about what a huge mistake you were making and how I was just some phase you were having.” He snapped. “And yeah, I know I’m dating out of my league, but I’d rather not be around people that remind me of it.” He sighed. “I’m already afraid of the day you decide you don’t want me anymore.”
Pacifica sat stunned as Dipper averted his eyes. He looked as if he were about to just get up and leave when Pacifica grabbed his hand. “Dipper, I love you. And I’m sorry if I don’t make that perfectly clear.”
She giggled a bit and he looked at her confused. “It’s just…funny to me that you think that way because in my mind, you are the only person I see. I’m like a little kid with a celebrity crush, I think about you all the time. I get butterflies every time you smile at me still. They have no idea. They don’t know what you do to me. You don’t know what you do to me. I’m helpless when it comes to you.”
Dipper looked lovingly at her and settled back in his seat. “You aren’t dating out of your league and I don’t want you to think of me that way because I’m a cheerleader or whatever.”
“I love you too, Pacifica.” He finally replied. “I’m sorry.”
Pacifica knew his insecurities and accepted them long ago. He was trying, and she appreciated him for that. “I still think we should go to the bonfire.” He cocked his head. “So we can talk to my friends. They can really meet you and they will see why I’m so in love with you.”
“And if they don’t?” He questioned.
“Well, I don’t want dumb friends anyway.” She smiled.
