if lance got an endgame at all, it shouldn’t have been until after his own arc. because lance’s arc should’ve been about himself, not himself in relationship to others.

On Klance:
I think neither Keith or Lance were ready to be in a relationship with each other during Voltron canon. Keith realized his feelings sometime around s3, but he has never been one to think deeply about romance. He was focused on the mission, he had to find out more about himself, he had to save Shiro, find his mom, etc. His feelings for Lance were there, but he didn’t give them priority, because that’s just not how he is. He would’ve been happy to continue quietly liking Lance from a distance, because he never expected anything from it and isn’t the type to pursue a relationship in the first place.
Lance also wasn’t ready to start anything with Keith. I think he liked both Keith and Allura at some point (you can crush on more than one person) but Allura was the one he fell in love with, because she was his ideal, and because with how things turned out and Keith leaving to join the Blade he simply didn’t have the chance to explore those feelings further. Not to mention he was probably in denial, with the whole rival thing he carried out, and he was just a teenage boy still growing into himself.
But Keith was always there for Lance, and Lance was always there for Keith. IMO, after the end of Voltron, Keith visits Lance. They obviously all stay in touch in some way, and I think Keith, as the former leader of the Paladins, who still very much has a soft spot for Lance, would regularly check up on his right hand man. He knows Lance is still heartbroken about Allura, so he never pushes anything, but he’s there as a friend. And over time, Lance will heal. He might not turn to Keith romantically right away, he might date a couple of other people first, but Keith is always there when he needs, they’re comfortable with each other, they know each other so well and fit together so easily.
Eventually, they fall in love. I don’t imagine them having a whirlwind romance, but more of just an “Oh, of course,” moment. They still bicker and tease, they still make silly jokes at each other while having that degree of mutual respect and trust that we all fell for, except now, they are also finally in love with each other, and they make each other so happy.
Thanks for coming and peace!
Keith, who has saved Shiro from death “as many times as it takes” repeatedly throughout the entire series: *about to get killed right in front of Shiro’s eyes*
