As we head into the new year, I wanted to share some of my favorite miraculous fics of 2018 <3
Not all of these began in 2018, but all of them had at least some part written this past year and they’re all beautiful and magical, written by insanely talented individuals, and you should give them a look
I know in recommendation lists, people usually just give a quick summary of each fic, but I wanted to instead discuss why I love each fic, and why you should read them too

If your heartstrings aren’t terribly tugged, you have no soul. It’s angsty, it’s sweet, and it’s full of beautifully written interactions. The way the story is framed is interesting and engaging, and leads the reader on an emotional journey not soon forgotten.

It’s one of the most original takes on the miraculous characters I’ve ever seen, and it’s more well written than most published novels.

There are so many times I’m ready to pull out my hair and scream at the obliviousness of Adrien or Marinette, but ultimately I adore the way they’re written. I love the exploration of Marinette getting a miraculous after Adrien has had his for a while, it leads to really interesting character dynamics on every side of the lovesquare.

Once again, Season attempts to kill her readers from both angst and phenomenal writing. We didn’t even stand a chance. It’s angsty, but also heartwarming, and every character’s emotional journey is far too real for the reader to remain unattached.
There were definitely even more amazing fics that came out/were updated in 2018, but these are some of my very favorites, and a few of them are stories that I haven’t really seen on too many rec lists and are in serious need of more recognition.
I hope 2018 has treated you well and look forward to what 2019 brings!

What if Marinette goes to give Adrien a miraculous to fight along side her and he’s just like “Man have I a surprise for you…”

First Chat Noir saw, for the first time, how bad it feels to break the heart of someone you care about, since no one has ever confessed their feelings like that to him before. (Heartthrob status, notwithstanding.) Then Sabine exposed Chat Noir to Actual Parenting and explained that he’s not responsible for causing the problem, and he’s allowed to feel the way he does and be in love with someone who isn’t Marinette. Finally, Marinette “accepted” Chat’s feelings and made it clear that she would like to be friends and that there were no hard feelings. So, if we’re lucky he’ll appreciate how much Ladybug doesn’t want to hurt him, can’t help the way she feels and shouldn’t have to try, and that if he really cares about her, he should be her friend and not hold a grudge over something out of her control and not her responsibility to change. Come on Adrien, you’re a smart kid. You can do this!
