what i really hate about this whole “open ending klance could happen later” after canon events is that lance had to get so hurt in the first place. i m just. im so fucking incredulous that they really went this route with his character. that we had keith say “the lance who has my back, the lance who knows who he is and what he has to offer” only for lance to turn into nothing but a romantic plot that was unnatural and uncomfortable as hell. how is this really a thing that happened. how was this written and animated and produced and put out into the world like that??? i’m so blown away by the blatant disinterest they had in fulfilling lance as a character in his own right.
ok another thing that’s terrible about this is that yeah, whoop-dee-do, klance could have a possible future together. except we won’t see it in canon and then, what’s the point of all that work and care and love put into them and not being able to see the payoff???? you can’t just write parallels drawing on other romantic couples or intense character development revolving around their relationship and then just decide “well, they didn’t get together in the show, but its possible for them a couple years down the line”. like that/??? what the fuck?? that’s just so unbelievably lazy, especially when it means breaking lance’s heart to “get him ready for real love” or whatever that shit was i don’t know but YIKES
