Connecticut diner under fire for racist Harriet Tubman tweets

On Wednesday, after the news that Harriet Tubman would replace Andrew Jackson on the $20, the apparent twitter account for Penny’s Diner in Norwalk, CT, tweeted the above racist statements. As the tweets spread, people expressed their outrage on Yelp and Twitter. But the diner says they’re innocent and has an explanation why.

“But a worker at the restaurant said that the account was fake, and that they do not have any Facebook or Twitter accounts. “It’s a hoax,” the worker, who declined to give his name in a phone interview, said Thursday morning. “It’s a repulsive statement that’s totally, totally untrue.
