Princess Iridescence blinked down at the ruffled pink pegasus, who currently looked to be attempting to claw off her own face. Ponies were so strange.
“Oh, come on, drama queen. It was just a little kiss.”
“That-” Skyla’s feathers stood on edge, making her resemble an indignant squawking chicken more than a regal leader of ponies. “That was no kind of kiss, you-you-!”
“Freak? Bug monster? Succubus?” Iridescence cheerfully supplied.
“You tried to eat my face!” Skyla glared, entirely unamused.
“Well, your widdle face is definitely cute enough for me to gobble up-” Iridescence teased, “But I just wanted a little smooch, Sky, honest. I’m sooo hungry right now, I just need a little itty bitty smidgen of love to get me through to dinnertime. Surely the daughter of Great Empress Cadence could spare a little love? Just one kiss.” Eerie turned the full power of her puppy dog eyes on Skyla, but it didn’t seem to have the same effect it always had on her mother Celestia. Skyla winced. With a start, Eerie realized that her mandibles were still out, and quickly retracted them back into her mouth.
“See?” Eerie smiled, and it was perfect and pristine and free of the giant insect mandibles that ponies seemed to find so distressing. “All good. C'mon, Sky, I’m starving here. One kiss. Between…friends.”
“Friends don’t kiss each other, you giant….vampire…thing.” Skyla scoffed. “Go bother somepony else.”
“Aw, but you’re my favorite pony to bother, Sky.” Eerie pouted. “And get down off your high horse already. We both know I’m your favorite pony too.”
“I-what-As if!” Skyla snapped. “You’re annoying, and completely juvenile, and crass-”
“Guilty as charged.” Eerie fluttered her eyelashes.
“And I am a princess, and princesses don’t kiss….parasites.”
“Mm-hmm.” Eerie hummed, thoughtful. “But Princess Skyla, if that’s true, then why’s your face even pinker than usual?”
Skyla’s cheeks flushed even darker. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Poor Princess Skyla, blushing like a school filly at the very thought of kissing a big ol’ bug monster. She thinks I haven’t noticed the way I’ve caught her looking at me these days. ” Eerie leaned in close, close enough to kiss. “She thinks I don’t know the kind of thoughts that go on in that fluffy pink head.”
Skyla felt her face heat at the proximity, and shivered, despite herself. “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She repeated, but it sounded much less reassuring than before.
“…You can’t fool a changeling, Skyla.” Iridescence said seriously. She held Skyla’s gaze for a long moment, and silence fell between the two royals.
“…One kiss.” Skyla finally managed, swallowing. “Just one. If that’s what it takes for you to go away.” Skyla tried to calm the drum of her heartbeat. “A-And keep your freaky bug parts inside your mouth.”
“My freaky bug parts could rock your world, Princess.” Eerie said coolly, leaning in. “Just gimme a call sometime when you finally pull that massive branch out from your-”
“Iridescence!” Eerie grinned at Skyla’s scandalized look of wrath, before dipping her head down, and kissing the pink princess in a way that Skyla quickly forgot to be angry.
“Mmm, that’s divine. So sweet.” Eerie licked her lips, savoring the taste of pony love. She giggled at Skyla’s dazed look. “…You good, Princess?”
Skyla made a slurred attempt at speech, before breaking out in a goofy grin that she’d deny later. Ponies were so weird, Iridescence mused. She didn’t even need her changeling powers to sense the depth of Skyla’s feelings. The pink princess was so…transparent. Heart on her sleeve. She’d piece herself together in a few moments, and swiftly be back to being the same old stuck up butt, but for now, Iridescence liked seeing the princess so vulnerable and honest. It made her smile, and she stole another kiss.
