Here we are! Starting mermay with @nadiarausa‘s weekly prompts.

With the first prompt being “skeletal”, I wanted to portray a mermaid of the deep. I have always been fascinated by the ocean depths and their deeply beautiful, uncanny inhabitants.
I like to imagine these mermaids of the ocean depths as silent and frail creatures, with a body soft enough to be one with the water that surrounds them. They would only feed of plancton and food particles descending from the abyss above, yet the rare encounters mankind had with them would be marked with fear: after all, men are well known to shy away from anything reminding them what they’re made of.

A mermaid for Mermay 🧜🏼♀️ Took me several tries to finally draw. I’m suddenly having a hard time drawing mermaids 🤔 I feel like because it’s been drawn so much worldwide that I ran out of ideas to make it more unique
