Tears leaked down Keith’s cheeks, tickling his chin and nose and lips.

“It’s not fair!” Lance shouted at him, from across the room. Their suits were still on, helmets flung into a corner. Keith struggled to hold his ground as Lance shouted, “It’s not fUCKING FAIR, GODAMMIT!” 

“I- he was trying to protect you.” Keith said weakly, reaching out with one hand. Lance ignored it, going in favor for throwing a small device one of them had left on their bedside table.

“That makes it so much worse.” Lance hissed,  pounding his fist against his head. Keith took a few steps forward, tears still leaking onto his skin. Lance was trying to hold back his sobs, obviously, and it wasn’t working very well.

“Lance….” Keith touched his arm and the floodgates broke, both of them clinging onto each other and sinking to the floor.

“H-he had to go and….I was fine, Shiro didn’t…..he’s fucking…I’m so sorry Keith I’m so sorry.….I was such an idiot I shouldn’t, I shouldn’t be here, I should be dead! I should be on some Galra ship and dead, because then I can’t FUCK UP!” Lance’s voice was laced with anger, and Keith pulled back.

“Lance.” He forced the other crying boy to look at him with a hand on his cheek and chin, “Please don’t say that. Y-” His voice broke, “-you don’t deserve to be dead, it wasn’t your fault, Shiro knew what he was doing, ok? He knew, and he wasn’t changing his mind, so please, please don’t say that you want to be dead and please don’t say that all you do is fuck up.” He curled into Lance’s chest and kissed his chin, tasting salt.

“Because you don’t, and I love you, and we’re going to get him back and it will be ok.” 

Lance cried harder and they sat there for a while longer, Keith’s words hanging in the air.

“-thinks he so fucking perfect, training all hours of the fucking day, god, sometimes I honestly want to- no, Hunk, I do not have a fucking crush.”

Keith stopped right outside the kitchen door, towel around his shoulders from the training deck and strained his ears. Lance was talking quite loudly, and it sounded like it was about him, too.

“Ugh, that’s the thing! I can’t help but like it!!!! When he does that thing when we’re fighting, yea, that one, and when he smiles and laughs I want to like, hold him there? Forever? And not let the moment go?” Someone said something muffled that Keith didn’t catch, and he leaned in.

“No, I mean, it’s not even that bad! He ROCKS it! Somehow? Like, it’s so fucking hot??” Keith blanched, then felt his cheeks heating up. Lance….thought he was hot? And liked it when he smiled?

“I just admire him, ok? Yea, it might be a tiiiiny crush but I’ll get over it.” Shit, he sounded closer to the door. Keith looked for a place to hide or run, but the hallway was long and bare and the door was already opening.

“I mean, though, I’d totally tap itt…..” Lance trailed off as he saw Keith, standing in the doorway, face flushed and immediately his eyes went wide. Hunk was behind him, a similar expression.

“Shit.” Lance said, obviously fighting back panic. “How much did you hear?” 

Keith bolted.

11. things you said when you were drunk

oooooo okie dokie :) (this is a modern au)

“You know….you have…..really…weird eyes.”

“Is that so, Lance?” Keith asked, looking at his friend in amusement. Lance nodded, almost tripping again. Keith grabbed his arm, which was around his own shoulders, tighter.

“Yeeaa.” His words slurred, “They’re like, not grey, annnd nottlike, purple? But kind of purple and they glimmmer in the light n….n’…they’re real pretty ok Keith?” Keith fought back the urge to laugh because holy crap Lance was totally smashed.

“They’re so pretty, Keith…so pretty….gimme ‘em, I want themm.” Lance reached up, groping at Keith’s face as if to take his eyes.

“Dude, Lance, no, get off oh my god.” Keith was still hiding a smile as he helped Lance into his (god-given) first floor dorm room.

“Butt Keithhh they’re so pretttty.” Lance whined, then his face went a funny color, “Oh, god I’m gonna puke.”

The next morning, Lance woke up with a blinding headache. Keith was there and gladly handed him an Asprin and water, waiting until Lance gulped both down to lean over and flutter his eyelashes.

“So, you think my eyes are pretty?”
