Spiderverse-inspired Chat Noir

The last little bit of pose practice this month turned into Chat Noir, but since I just recently saw Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse,  I couldn’t just draw him as is. I loved the baggy clothes over Miles’s Spiderman suit and thought Chat Noir would look great like that too.

It’s also a bit of a nod to @starrycove’s Miraculous Breakdance AU over on tumblr. That green short-sleeved hoodie stayed in my subconscious this whole time!

If Plagg visited Marinette and influenced her more whenever

Plagg: Everyone is just so blind

Marinette: Yeah, I’ve transformed in a park in broad daylight and people haven’t noticed

Plagg: That’s bad. My partner just uses super lame excuses to get out the room

Marinette: We all agree I should keep my identity secret right? But what if I test everyone’s blindness

Plagg: I am on board

Tikki: Don’t

Marinette: I mean I’m not going to start transforming in front of people

Tikki: Don’t

Marinette: Or anything too extreme, just maybe have a bit of fun

Plagg: Do it, do it, do it

From then on Marinette slowly changes her outfit to more ladybug stuff. Her bag now like the yoyo and sits across her waist. People notice? Oh, she must be a fan

OK, time to dial it up. Longer red ribbons in her hair? Looks good. Wears a black turtle neck? It suits. Starts saying bug out? Cool, cool. Wears ladybug inspired sunglasses? No one says anything. Starts a youtube channel called “Ladybug Vlogs” which features Marinette in a homemade ladybug outfit talking about life, sometimes instructional baking videos, and at least once her mask “accidently” slips? Some people say it’s a parody, some people say the girl is delusional, nobody suggests she’s Ladybug though one person commented she’d probably be a good one. Marinette ‘accidently’ posts on her own instagram a selfie of Ladybug? People say Ladybug took the picture and posted it as Marinette as the girl lost her phone. The closest anyone got to revealing her identity was saying she did a really good cosplay. 

As ladybug mentions going back home to the bakery? Still no one says anything. As ladybug hangs around the school talking to Alya about things she only told Marinette? Guess Ladybug and Marinette are good friends

Marinette does everything short of transforming in front of everyone. Nobody realises anything. Adrien is pretty sure Kagami is ladybug.  Plagg is laughing while Tikki has freakouts about it.

Marinette: I’ve always wondered Plagg who is your chosen?

Plagg: I’m not actually allowed to say. But I can say he’s blonde, you know him in your everyday life, and you are good friends

Marinette: So….Chat Noir is Rose?

Plagg: How the hell did you get that?! Just how blind are you?

Marinette: There’s a lot of blonde people in Paris

Plagg: Chat Noir is male

Marinette: Hmm, then does Gabriel count as blonde? Is that why we never see him?! Ew, an old guy has been flirting with me

Plagg: And you complain about everyone else’s stupidity

It took 3 seasons, but Marinette Dupain-Cheng & Chat Noir are officially “just friends”.
