Ok what’s happening is that during Tết (LNY) or whenever you’re at the temple you do this fun thing where you pray while shaking this cup full of wooden sticks (think lacquered paddle pop sticks) with numbers on them. The cup is completely full so you have to be patient, like if you try and force it the sticks will all fall out. once you get one you get a paper with the corresponding number and try your best to figure out your luck for the year.
