something that really touched me about Yuuri’s character development in episode 7 is when Viktor gave Yuuri an ultimatum thinking it might help, Yuuri just went, “ohhoho you can miss me with that shit” and then proceeded to YELL AT HIM FOR TRYING TO PULL SOME UNDERHANDED MOTIVATIONAL SHIT INSTEAD OF JUST BEING THERE FOR HIM
When Viktor said he didn’t mean it and that he didn’t WANT to quit as Yuuri’s coach, Yuuri’s response is just “I know!“ - of course that still hurts him to hear Viktor say that, but he KNOWS Viktor wouldn’t do that. In spite of all of his wavering confidence, his small doubts that he can’t quite shake, he really does trust Viktor and he’s lost enough of his hero worship to just treat Viktor like a person & to stand up to him when he feels he needs to AND THAT IS THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT I LIVE TO SEE
