What if everything seems like queer-baiting but then, at the end of episode 12 ,after the ending maybe, where only 10 seconds remain, something like this happens
These two are made to be shipped,i swear to god
I love this. I really truly love it. Because it shows us, clear as day, that Yuuri doesn’t care about winning the GPF. He’d like to, of course, and I’m sure that he’ll be happy if he manages it–but everything he’s done to secure Victor as his coach has been nothing about winning and everything about keeping Victor by his side.
He wanted to win the Onsen on Ice to make Victor stay. He asked to eat katsudon together with him as his prize. And here again, he outright begs god to give him as much time with Victor as possible. He knows their time together has an expiration date, but he’s feeling selfish in a way he’s never allowed himself to feel before, spurred on by confidence that Victor is instilling in him.
Victor is his everything in this his final season.
I would like to add how important this is to exist in a sports anime. Point me to a single sports anime where the main character’s goal isn’t to win some kind of competition (okay I give you Free! but other than that). The fact that Yuuri’s primary focus is NOT the sport, is NOT the competition, is
NOT the rivalry… it’s just so groundbreaking. And that Yuuri has no trouble admitting to himself that all he wants to do is spend time with Victor.
He isn’t disappointed that this could possibly be his last competitive season, he’s sad that that means his time with Victor could be cut short. He truly is skating for Victor. And not in the sense of wanting to impress him. But skating for the ability to just honestly and truly spend more time with him in his presence.
And let’s also recall that the theme was: On the subject of my love.
The song embodies his entire skating career–and why did that career start? Because he saw Victor skate. And he didn’t just see him skate and then get inspired and that was that. He saw him skate, got inspired TO GO AFTER VICTOR, made Victor his everything, his entire goal, the person he most wanted to impress.
It’s always been about Victor. And now Victor is showing him his love by not holding back with their training–so Yuuri is showing him his own love in return, paying him back as he vowed by skating for him. On the subject of his love: Skating, Victor Incarnate.

The Prince and the Dressmaker
We’re very excited to share with you some sneak peek art from Jen Wang’s new graphic novel, The Prince and the Dressmaker, out with First Second Books in 2016!

The Prince and the Dressmaker is about a young 19th Century prince named Sebastian who secretly loves to wear dresses. He hires an ambitious young seamstress named Frances to make dresses for him and as their collaboration grows, so do their feelings for one another. Sebastian and Frances must find a way to balance their inner desires with the strict expectations of the royal family – or risk exposing Sebastian’s secret to the world.

“This book is really special to me because I basically wrote it for my teenage self, which is something I haven’t done before. I wanted a story that explored questions about gender and self-identity in a way that was also really colorful and fun and positive. The personal themes are there, but also lots of dresses and princesses. The idea was to create my ideal Disney movie, and writing this has genuinely been one of the most fun, liberating, experiences I’ve had making comics. My awkward confused fourteen year-old self would’ve really connected with this book and I hope it does the same for other young readers,” says Jen Wang.
Jen Wang is a cartoonist, writer and illustrator living in Los Angeles. Her young adult graphic novels Koko Be Good and In Real Life (co-written by Cory Doctorow) are published by First Second Books. She recently wrote the mini-series Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Card Wars for BOOM Comics, illustrated by Britt Wilson. Her upcoming graphic novel The Prince and the Dressmaker will be published by First Second Books in 2016.
