ALTEA RISING: Chapter 1

Summary: After Shiro and Matt Holt disappear without a trace, conspiracy theorists Keith and Pidge team up with ghost hunters Lance and Hunk to find them. Their investigation leads them to Altea, a ghost town that mysteriously vanished a hundred years ago.

The new team of four soon finds out there is more at stake than they realized. They are paladins, meaning they have the ability to walk between the human and spirit worlds. Shiro and Matt have been captured by Zarkon, an evil spirit who intends to create a portal between the worlds and unleash his demon followers on earth. And the only way to stop Zarkon is to find five spirit lions that have been hidden throughout the ghost world … and form an all-powerful being known as Voltron.

Excerpt:

He’d seen flashes of dark passageways, paved with crumbling stone. He’d seen Shiro being dragged down a corridor, blood streaming from a gash across his face. A pair of clawed, purple hands emerged from the sleeves of a black cloak. Shiro’s voice had called out, strained and desperate. “Matt? Matt!” And for a moment Keith had seen Matt, limp in the arms of a creature with glowing eyes, his face deathly pale and glasses cracked and askew.

Everything had gone dark then, and Keith found himself suspended in blackness, blind but still dreaming. He’d had the uncanny feeling that he was in an empty, cavernous space … and that he wasn’t alone.

why is it humans not humen

sacredcreatures

bc “human” comes from a latin root (homo > humanus > humaine > human) and “man” (and thus “men”) comes from a germanic root (mann > man)

so you get humans, not humen, since “humans” doesn’t play by germanic rules

English isn’t a language, it’s three languages stacked on top of each other wearing a trenchcoat.
