Season 8 is near and no matter what happens I know that a good portion of this fandom are going to act like a bunch of clowns and the tags will be A Mess.
but before any of that happens, I want to spread a little positivity!
Sooooo I want to give a shout-out to the Lotura fandom for having the best and most interesting theories, metas, and observations for this show! Whether any of those theories are going to be true or not isn’t really the point for me, (*whispers* except they’re totally going to happen *fingers crossed*) it’s the fact that they’re always clever and so much fun to read!
so from this Plance shipper, thanks for making the vld fandom a little more bearable lol
I think the ending of s8 was originally a reprisal of the White Lion Trial.
In that, Allura offered her life, fully expecting that it might be taken from her - but that the thing that needed doing was more important than herself, but instead she was rewarded.
Allura became a cosmic entity - akin to Bob form ‘The Feud’ - and she wasn’t the only one.
In the original s8 Lotor was there with her.
I believe she would have initially intended to sacrifice herself alone, but that Lotor wouldn’t allow her to go alone, and chose to go with her.
Narratively, Lotor needed his White Lion reprisal - where he passed the test - where he valued something more than his own life. And that would be Allura.
So they both go, and they both metaphorically offer their lives as a sacrifice. And as in Oriande, they are both rewarded for it. Gaining new knowledge and abilities. They become the new gods of a restored reality; the new Life Givers.
We’re probably missing a scene or two making things more clear exactly what happened.
It’s a different plane of existence, but they’re not dead.
Bob was a cosmic entity, and he managed to interact with the paladins just fine. Though I could see it taking some time for them to figure out how exactly ‘manifesting’ physically might work.
The shot of the nebula with both Allura and Lotor was definitely from the original season; there would be no reason for Lotor to be there otherwise.
Neither of them dies in the original cut of season eight.
I will never not be angry that my girl Allura fallen in love with someone that made her finally happy and confident, who gave her respect she deserved... only to be proven naive and too blinded by love by MEN, making it seem as if trusting and loving someone was bad, only for her to waste away during season 7 and 8, until she rather walked away from life to die.
I think we can all agree that we’ve never seen Allura this happy before:
We’ve never seen her be this vulnerable and open with anybody; Lotor is the only person who truly understands what she’s lost and the doubts she fears:
We’ve never seen her have someone who really values her lost culture, someone who has the potential to train using magic with her, complete with matching soulmate marks:
Empowered, a princess protecting the Galran Emperor:
This eager and excited to get to work with Lotor that she jumps away from relaxing time playing a game with her friends and jumps over the back of the couch rather than walk around the table to get to the door:
Puckering up, closing her eyes bc she trusts Lotor and starting to lean in:
……………Then disappointed their kiss got interrupted:
Looking forward to kissing Lotor and puckering up/leaning in (again):
Finally: (also I think there’s extra glowy/soft effects if I’m not mistaken?)
Lastly… there’s speculations going around that lotura were originally supposed to become one with the cosmos together/become interdimensional beings together, and I’m game with that. Forget canon, this is a much better story.
