I notice that Lotor Dalir has many unhealthy habits like to too much sex with random girls, alkochol problems and too much smoking i wonder if his relationship with Allura will put him in such a situation that he will end certain habits, for example, stop sleeping with other girls because he does not want to hurt Allura because he loves her.

Hi, anon. Thanks for your note! Yes, Lotor Dalir in my Lotura AU, Adrenaline Rush, definitely exhibits addictive behaviors.

This is a fairly significant deviation from the VLD canon characterization of Lotor. In VLD, Lotor is very orderly and disciplined in his role as a prince and commander of generals. But Lotor Dalir is in fact a combination of VLD Lotor (with his suave sensibilities, political charisma, intelligence, and elevated speech patterns) and the 1984 DotU Lotor (with his passionate excesses regarding wine and a harem of women). Some of his visual design aligns with the 2003 Devil’s Due comics, in which Lotor wore an earring (a sign of more materialism / indulgences in his person compared to VLD).

For AR, I championed a mix of Lotors because I think the end result is the most realistic given AR Lotor’s wealthy and privileged upbringing, within a world of celebrity worship. In that kind of environment, it exposes him to some overindulgent practices and excesses, which is doubled by his reputation as a genius.

Interestingly enough, the only thing that seems to give him true euphoria is racing (as mentioned in ch 1). His other habits are distractions to get him through to his next race—to get him through the stress of conversing with his very ill mother (as seen in ch 2)—or his next conversation with his very abrasive and jaded father (as implied in ch 3).

So this makes his motivation for his addictions a little more complicated than his DotU counterpart.

He presents himself as a pure pleasure glutton without a care in the world, living his best life just because he can.

But at the end of the day, Lotor Dalir is feeding an addiction loop ultimately related to his need for escape, in one way or another.

VLD Lotor was willing to burn up in an unstable star to escape. AR Lotor might not have such extreme circumstances, but he’s not afraid of a little burn either to get away.

(Allura Singh is also terribly good at burning him too, and that is part of why he is attracted to her. If she can distract him enough, he just might forget about those cigarettes in his pocket or the other women who call for him. XD)
