I don’t think Viktor will return to skating

Not as a competitor anyway.

He’s found something while coaching Yuuri (and I don’t just mean the love of his life.)

He’s appreciating the sport more now, I think. He has the time to stop and watch the other skaters, really admire their work and how they’re doing.

When he thinks about how he used to feel during the season, we get flashbacks of him being lonely and sad and stressed.

But now he’s smiling, he’s watching, he’s learning. He gets to see everything differently than before. He can be less critical in terms of competition, and now see the routine as it’s meant to be seen rather than running a point total in his head like Yuuri does the whole episode.

I think that’s freeing for him, and I don’t think he’d give that up, even if he’s not coaching Yuuri. His face during Yurio and Otabek’s routines really shows that.

He never lost his passion for ice skating, it’s just been renewed.
