One of my favorite things about HTTYD3 is the emphasis on Hiccup and Astrid’s partnership. As Valka pointed out, Astrid isn’t just meant to be the Chief’s wife, and she doesn’t only exist to produce an heir. She’s meant to rule alongside Hiccup, and help him lead. Valka realizes that when she left Berk, she left Stoick without the help he needed, and she doesn’t want Hiccup to have to feel that way. She realizes the importance of being married to the Chief, and she encourages Astrid to be the partner she couldn’t bring herself to be for Stoick.
And it’s lovely how the partnership between Hiccup and Astrid is reflected through Toothless and the Light Fury. Toothless leads his kind with the Light Fury by his side. Because he has to let Toothless fulfill his role, Hiccup learns how to fulfill his own role as leader of his people with Astrid by his side. But as shown by the ending, fulfilling his role doesn’t mean forgetting about dragons. Dragons, especially Toothless, are still part of what made him who he is, and I think it’s beautiful that he tries to bring dragons into his children’s lives as well.

I will never be over this film
-Nuffink looks so much like Hiccup at that age that Valka sometimes has to catch her words before she calls him “Hiccup”. She gets to be a mother all over again, and this time, to be there when it matters.
-Tuffnut and Ruffnut LOVE Nuffink, I’ve seen this headcannon from @justatranquilcloud but I love the idea that he is an honorary nut. “Nuffnut”, to be precise.
-Zephyr attaches herself to Gobber when she’s really little, she toddles after him and Hiccup has to keep collecting her from the forge if she manages to wander off.
-Hiccup relishes time with his family above everything, he will sit by the hearth in the Haddock hut with Astrid by his side, Nuffink curled up at their feet and Zephyr either sat by her brother or cuddled up to her grandmother.
-Sometimes, Nuffink will talk about his dreams. Hiccup is still haunted by the first time he heard Nuffink say “there were dragons, father!”
-Zephyr has seen her father cry. She had followed Gobber to the forge again and found her father hunched over a collection of old, old papers. It was Hiccup’s first tail design for Toothless.
-Nuffink is very warm and affectionate with everyone. No one can resist his charm. Snotlout, Fishlegs, Eret, all of them can’t resist picking him up and cooing at him when he holds up his little arms for a hug.
-Zephyr thinks Eret is the absolute coolest. Whenever she’s not in the forge or with her mother, she’s watching Eret swan about New Berk, she gets really despondent and mopey when he leaves on trade.
-Nuffink likes to be carried around in Fishmeat’s little pouch. Fishlegs doesn’t mind. It reminds him of the little dragon that once sat by his heart.
-Zephyr prances about wearing her mother’s helmet, and occasionally Valka’s too, clutching her tiny axe (dull blades) and hollering at the top of her lungs.
-Nuffink and Zephyr sit in on chief meetings, with Astrid, of course. It’s a family affair.
-Nuffink’s middle name is Stoick.
