night furies never miss their targets when shooting fireballs from hundreds of feet in the air, so they must have incredibly acute eyesight. yet somehow, Toothless didn’t recognize Hiccup after 5-10 years apart. two possible conclusions emerge:

1. night furies are adapted for hunting in darkness and their vision isn’t actually that good in bright sunlight
2. Toothless knew exactly who Hiccup was the second he saw him, but decided to pretend he didn’t to make fun of his beard
