Can I just take a moment to appreciate the fuck out of Ulaz? Like
what the fuck even is this shoulder-to-waist ratio? Look at those quad-zilla thighs and giant clawed hands like what a goddamn killing machine and then
look at this tall-ass lanky fucking alien killing machine staring down at Shiro like puppy no that’s cute but nah.
Then he disables (disappears?) his helmet and his fucking ears flop out like what a great detail also again here we note the absurd shoulders literally I think they’re about 5 heads wide even without those shoulder-guard-things on top of them.
Look at him here just tolerating the fuck out of Allura who’s 100% down to murder.
Just casually sitting here in cuffs like nbd, the only being on the Marmora base, exposing himself and allowing himself to be captured, trusting and praising Shiro and my heart is fucking breaking because right now Ulaz is the only being in the known universe sitting in the middle of the venn diagram of people Shiro trusts and people who know exactly what Shiro has done and endured while held prisoner??
I’m thinking back to S1 where Sendak tells Shiro that a monster like him could never be a Voltron Paladin but here we have another Galra sitting calmly in front of Shiro’s found family, telling them that they’re closer to winning the war than ever thanks to him. Ulaz knows the body count piled up behind Shiro and is silently acknowledging that he is not less for it; they’re fighting a war and he’s has been critical to attaining their current position: “Our gamble on you paid off better than we could have ever imagined”
But of course this is the Galra who rescued Shiro in the first place, who tells him on the way out, “As a fighter, and a leader, you give hope. Earth needs you. We all do”
Which is maybe the only good thing Shiro has been told about himself by someone other than the Holts since he was captured on Kerberos and that just fucks me up so bad like here is this dude trusting him, risking his life, charging him with protecting Earth like yes you’ve been through so much and we need to you to more but you can handle it and it’s like gravity, grounding Shiro to something in the wake of everything that’s happened since his capture.
And now, what it must have meant to Shiro to hear him say essentially that the trust and risk was worth it, that it worked, that Shiro was worth it.
Goddamn.
I’m not even done.
So after destroying my heart he’s “cool gotta go call the rest of the Galra Space Dad Crew and he’s taking the kids on a field trip to the Marmora base and explaining to them on the way in how the space-time cloaking works. He’s trusting these human-ass kids with a location and technology that Zarkon would rend galaxies to get his hands on.

The whole group is disbelieving that there actually good Galra, being surprised (and arguably taking for granted) that there are his people within the Empire risking their lives, and he’s so patient with them!!!! Pidge is asking about other Galra prisoners and of course he’s offering to transfer the records he has, and Keith wants to know about his weapon and he gently shows it like!!! ! !!!
And explains what it is and what it means like there’s no stupid questions and he’s so kind and good with them AND THEN HE HAS TO GO AND SACRIFICE HIMSELF TO SAVE THEM AT THE END AND I’M
Augh we were fucking robbed.
I know he probably folded himself into space-time nothingness when he took out the Ro-beast but I would give a lot to have Galra Space Dad back.
