you know, a big part of the reason i hate the thought of keith leading voltron is that it falls into this overdone trope where the dude is chosen by some great wise mentor figure to do a great incredible thing that for some reason no one else can do, despite the fact that theyre surrounded by a bunch of other characters that are ultimately more equipped to handle it than he is (*cough* allura)
like, i love keith as a character but hes hotheaded and sometimes inconsiderate and struggles to connect with and understand the needs of his teammates which really doesnt make him a bad person, but it also doesnt make him leader material (he got development in season 2, but it was mostly to do with his origins, not any sort of leadership beyond shiro telling him he wanted him to lead) plus shiro isnt some infallible paragon of wisdom and good judgement and his decision pretty much boils down to favouritism (his favouring of pidge and keith is pretty blatant in season 2) which is a flaw in his character i would like to see addressed in the future
also having him in the black lion wouldnt make sense after dedicating an entire season to showing how closely bonded he and red are and all the effort shiro put into connecting with black? why would you show all that if youre just going to throw it away in the future?
idk a lot of this is frustration but making keith the leader of voltron just because hes the one shiro has the most history with is a fucking recipe for disaster and a really tired trope that im sick of seeing
