Sudden bursts of affection lead to awkward standoffs
I want to write this. So I’m writing this. Sorry World.
Alya swears on her life it was an accident. She did not intend for this to happen. It was a long night she was tired. Otherwise things would be normal and not awkward. Like she intended for her life to be.
It all started because of an essay. Usually writing was easy for her. Words just spilled on the paper but this was unusually difficult for her. Which was dumb because it was a paper about her. It was supposed to be about what makes her a hero. But she didn’t know what to write. She knows what a hero is. There are superheroes right here in Paris! Alya would call herself many things but heroic would not be one.
This was why she was sitting on the park bench trying to clear her head with her laptop on her lap. She has spent three entire days working on this essay. And she has been staring at a blank page for three entire days. She complained about her writer’s block to Marinette and she told her that whenever she has an artist block she goes for a change in scenery. However, the blinking line still sat on the computer like a dumb blinking line.
“Why won’t the words go?” She whined aloud. Then she saw someone sitting under a tree right across from her. She squinted to see a familiar DJ. It was Nino just chilling. Relaxing as if he hadn’t a care in the world.
She grabbed her phone. She sent him a text.
A- I see you~
She watched him smile and wave. She motioned for him to come sit next to her. Talking to someone would be refreshing. Good for the brain. Good for her sanity.
“What’s up Alya?” He greeted her.
“Oh nothing. Just happened to be around.” She shrugged.
“So, Nino, you’ve written your essay right?”
“Yeah…”
“OK. Here’s the deal. I have awful writer’s block right now. It has been nagging me for 3 days. I have absolutely no idea how to go about this or begin.” She confessed.
“Too many ideas?” Nino guessed.
“Just about the opposite.” She whined putting her face in her hands. “I don’t know why no ideas are coming to me.”
“It’s alright Alya. Every artist has some sort of bogus block. I have. Marinette has.”
“I don’t Nino. I have never gotten writer’s block before. It’s so…” She struggled do find the right word.
“Frustrating?” Nino offered.
“Exactly.” She sighed. She took the laptop off her lap and put it to the side. “I can’t even speak my writer’s block is so bad.”
“Come on Alya. Just think of it as an interview.”
“An interview?”
“Yes. An interview- Don’t give me that face.” She raised an eyebrow.
“What face?”
“That one. Like I’m saying something stupid.”
“Psh…I’m not- I’m not trying to…invalidate your ideas. Just explain.”
“Think of it as Ladybug and Chat Noir giving you an interview to be a new Superhero. You have plenty of good qualities to be a superhero. You risk your life so people can know about akuma attacks on the Ladyblog. You are resourceful. Think on your feet and stuff.” Nino elaborated.
She sat there for a moment. Letting the idea sit.
An interview…
To be a superhero.
That was actually a good idea.
That was an amazing idea!
“Nino! You’re a GENIUS!” She exclaimed throwing her arms around him kissing him on the cheek.
Then she realized what she done. Nino kind of looked shocked and stiff like a toy soldier.
“Welp.ThanksNino.Gottapapertowrite!” She said quickly grabbing her stuff before he could react. Then she bolted.
She booked it straight to the bakery. So she can groan and rethink her life with her best friend. And maybe some macaroons to stuff in her face.
