i know resting bitch face is like a joke thing but um has anyone ever talked about how profoundly soul-destroying it is to be told you look sad or angry or like you hate everyone when you uhhh actually are…genuinely trying to be nice or gregarious or even were in quite a good mood and had literally no idea you were even coming across as aloof or unpleasant

have you noticed how in shiro's officer portrait he has a badge that no other officer (iverson for example) has? do you think he did something army related for it? maybe he saved other officers/cadets from a near-accident? perhaps it has something to do with why Lance calls him his 'hero' in e1 and shiro seems to have a vague idea of who he is? do you think shiro somehow protected/aided Lance or other young cadets Lance knows??? (note: this is NOT sh//ance lmao)

YES IVE NOTICED THE MEDAL! MAYBE SINCE THE GARRISON IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE A MILITARY SCHOOL AS WELL MAYBE HE WAS A WAR HERO????

omg so shiro’s medal has me so intrigued (im a military kid) 
and im gonna write about it and put my two cents down

the likelihood of shiro being a war hero is slim considering his age - being medaled as a war hero takes years

the top badge looks like an aeronautical rating badge for the garrison as all of the upper ranked teachers and officers at the garrison have this one - its likely that they changed the design from wings to an inverted wing to stir away from an image of the american military for kids’ show purposes! 

if the garrison is not military and solely an NASA type program, this badge would likely be a command pilot/lunar pilot badge 

so: you need this clearance to be in space

bottom circular badge is likely excellence-in-compeition showing shiro would be and was top pick for the kerberos mission 

the lines of multi-colored “badges” are ribbons - officers don’t wear all of their badges bc it looks cluttered so they wear the ribbons in lined order - this is the most damning evidence that the garrison is a military school - 

the ribbons are the hardest to decipher because theyre small, not colored accurately since the only picture we have of shiro in the garrison is from the green colored holo-TV from the living room of the Holts but man if i had to guess they’d be:

Service Ribbon & National Defense (you get these two after basic training)
Distinguished Flying
Air Force Recognition Award or Outstanding Airman of the Year 
and maybe
Air Force Training Instructor

But also - this is a professional photo of Shiro at the Garrison - wearing his full fatigues and badges so it’s likely that all the pictures we’ve seen of Iverson and other officials at the Garrison don’t have them wearing their ribbons and badges because they’re not in a formal setting - they only have their aeronautical badge on for training and clearance purposes !!  

either way deciphering shiro’s badges…. so fun omg he’s such a high rank no wonder lance and keith look up to him and that he was chosen for the kerberos mission!!!!
