The car rolled up to the abandoned factory.
“Just wait here,” Shiro mumbled as he turned off the car. He paused for a moment, hands resting on steering wheel. He took a deep breath and opened the door. Just as he was about to walk away, he leaned down and looked back at Keith.
“Don’t try anything,” Shiro raised an eyebrow. The unspoken words hung in the air.
‘We don’t want a repeat of last time.’
Keith watched as Shiro entered the metal building. He rolled his eyes and opened his phone. It was like he was twelve all over again- waiting for the big kids to join the shootout as Keith waited in the car.
You mess up one time.
Keith scrolled through the contacts- his thumb resting on Lance’s.
Might as well. He could use a laugh right about now.

Keith dunked the sponge back into the soapy water. He drained out the dark stained liquid and continued scrubbing at splatters coating the carpet. Shiro ducked his head into the room.
“How’s it going?” he asked, slightly amused at the situation.
Keith grunted as he aggressively continued his work.
“Right, well, night!” He called over his shoulder. Keith mumbled a quick ‘night’ back.
Just as he thought was out of Keith’s reach, Shiro called out “Wouldn’t have happened if you weren’t such a hothead!”
Keith growled and threw the sponge in the man’s general direction. A wet slapping noise sounded. A shriek of surprise followed.
He glanced down at the blotched carpet. He had been working at this for an hour. The stains were almost- not noticeable? Maybe.
Or maybe Keith should just buy a rug and slap it on top.
His phone buzzed.
