Even though Kolivan does try to protect Keith’s hair at all cost, he’s not a killer. He would stab Lance but not fatally. Just enough for him to loose his conscious. At which point, Keith, thinking Lance is dead would fly into rage and attack Kolivan and defeat him in combat. Then, hearing Lance’s faint breathing he would carry Lance bridal style, to the the nearest medic he could find where Lance would recover, awake, and be greeted by the sight of a beautiful mullet. ^^
