he’s defending the universe
I’ve had this comic on my mind for quite a while now. Way too many artists get pulled into angry debates by simply answering angry or condescending messages from anons who most of the time don’t offer anything constructive.
What most don’t realise (or realise too late) is that by doing so, they turn their blog into a discourse war zone between those who agree and those who disagree and defend the artist. That way, artists themselves are keeping fandom discourse alive because their blogs become stages with thousands of followers for angry anons to force their opinions on.
It’s possible to voice constructive criticism or concern without being an asshole about it. If someone doesn’t bother to treat you with respect, why should you answer them? Without artist’s blogs, angry anons don’t have a following because honestly, who likes to listen to negativity and drama all the time, right?
So I’d like to remind my awesome fellow artists: just because someone sends you a message doesn’t mean you have to respond. You can help kill off fandom drama and keep your blog your own.
