Major spoilers for Httyd : The Hidden World

I’m seeing so many posts going “Toothless left Hiccup for the Light Fury” or “Toothless made the dragons leave for his gf” and I’m like “did we watch the same movie?”

The dragons (including Toothless) left because it wasn’t safe. Yes, they defeated the current threat, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be other threats. And there will, because Berk is the only place that has accepted dragons. Everyone else still sees them as less or as a threat to be rid of. Why would they stay in a dangerous world when there’s an entire safe world where they can be free?

Yes, Toothless liked the Light Fury. It’s completely normal for a dragon that went years thinking he was the last of his kind to be attracted to an alluring female of the same species/subspecies. And once she understood that Hiccup was no threat, she didn’t pull Toothless away like I thought she would. She was willing to live with the humans until Toothless made the decision to leave himself.

Toothless loves Hiccup a lot, and he didn’t want to leave him, but they both were mature enough to realized that it was the only way. He didn’t leave Hiccup for the Light Fury, he left so his kind would be safe.
