Voltron Sicknario

Okay hear me out:

So what if the lions acted differently when a paladin is sick? They’ve got bonds, right?

So imagine late at night, Lance is tossing and turning in bed with a high fever, and Blue is losing her mind and bouncing around anxiously. The loud noises wake everyone (but Lance) up, and they are confused when they go to investigate. Hunk makes the assumption that maybe something is wrong with Lance, and they all go to check. Sure enough, they find Lance sick.

Or

Imagine Keith attempting to work through illness by hiding it from the others, but Red knows. So Keith gets in his lion to go out for training with the others, but Red is like no, sir. Instead of obeying Keith’s commands, she keeps tossing Keith out of her, over and over until he gets frustrated and starts yelling into the comms that his lion hates him. The others come, and Pidge points out that Keith doesn’t look so hot. Shiro steps forward to further investigate with a palm to Keith’s forehead and finds the red paladin burning up.

Or

Hunk is a little sick, which is actually a lie but the other paladins don’t need to know the gritty details. He and Lance go to Yellow to run through some maintenance work and find Yellow cowering in a corner, making her large body seem impossibly small. Hunk tries to coax her out, but she shakes her head, unwilling to let the others near her. She motions her giant head toward Hunk when he and Lance are a safe distance away, and Lance follows her gaze, noting Hunk’s unusually pale skin and the sweat lining his temples. After some badgering from Lance, Hunk admits that he’s feeling way worse than he let on.

Or

Pidge is sick, and she physically can’t hide it because she can’t stop sneezing. She’s grouchy because she feels so terrible, and she just wants to be left alone; she doesn’t want the others doting on her because, while she would never admit it out loud, it makes her feel weak. In turn, Green shuts down completely, almost as if she’s dead, and she won’t turn back on until Pidge, herself, comes and assures that she’s over her cold.

Or

Shiro is sick and attempting to hide it, but then Black dips out. Gone. Leaving no trace in sight. Everyone is freaking out thinking the Galra took Black, but Allura, who has been dealing with this a while, suggests Black left because something is wrong with Shiro. All eyes turn toward the black paladin, and he tries to deflect their stern gazes but fails when Keith steps forward with narrow eyes. One hand to Shiro’s cheek tells Keith that the black paladin is running an impressive fever, and the group ushers Shiro to bed because the faster he gets better, the faster Black will return.
