in my first lecture on shakespeare the lecturer opened with the words “Shakespeare is bisexual. Most literary evidence points towards this, and it is the most commonly accepted understanding of his sonnets in modern literature.
so if I have to read even ONE essay that comes to this ‘shocking’ conclusion this year, so help me god you will NOT pass this module”
anyway this is your reminder that shakespeare is bi, 100% bi, super bi, and laura jenkins wants people to shut up and focus on his fucking nature imagery thank you goodbye.
I love this professor.

I’ve been on a bit of a Sonic kick lately, due to Sonic Mania (which I haven’t actually played, I’ve just seen a lot of talk about it. I want to play it, though) so I decided to draw Sonic in the style of Mania’s animated intro, because it’s probably my favorite official style to see Sonic in. This in turn made me want to see what a couple of the strictly modern characters would look like in that classic style.
I picked Shadow and Rouge, because Shadow has always been a favorite of mine (SA2 was my introduction to Sonic) and because modifying Rouge’s design seemed like an interesting exercise, given certain traits she has.
Shadow obviously just winds up looking a lot like Sonic, though I made him just a bit spikier, and I made his shoes feel kinda boxy and clunky, because they’re supposed to be these mechanical jet propulsion things on his feet instead of just running shoes like Sonic. They’re important to how he moves, so I wanted to draw a bit of attention to them. I also flipped the weight of his torso to the top, to make him look a little less pudgy like Sonic and a little more intimidating, though admittedly it’s kinda hard to tell with his crossed arms in the way. I would’ve liked to simplify his cuffs as well, but I couldn’t really think of a good way to do so without feeling like I’d changed his design too much.
With Rouge, I wanted to re-contextualize her more sultry design concepts to be more cutesy and playful. Like, the sultry is still there, but in a more tongue in cheek way. This meant giving her the more standard noodle legs (why are her legs so realistically proportioned anyways) and making her body sort of a bean, to hint at the idea of a waistline and hourglass figure without actually, y’know, giving her one. I also simplified the details of her gloves and boots to better fit the aesthetic. Overall, I’m pretty happy with what I came up with for her.
