Marinette has been all but rejected, which makes a parallel between her and Chat. But the major difference is that Ladybug is aware of Chat’s feelings and has settled the matter where as Adrien is still unaware of Marinette’s. And as long as Adrien isn’t dating someone else, until he formally rejects her, there’s still a chance for her.
Which is why when Adrien admits to kinda liking Kagami, it was good that Marinette took that seriously and wanted to consider letting Adrien go (though she was instantly vetoed). It’s also good that Marinette never blames Adrien for not liking her back, no matter how much his ignorance has inadvertently hurt her.
Episodes like Backwarder and Animaestro make my girl take back all that good karma by getting worried and jealous, I get it. But it’s also possible these episodes are meant to be before Frozer. Again, I still haven’t watched Animaestro so I don’t know if there are details in it that contradict that idea, but it’s entirely possible that Backwarder happens before Frozer and so it’s hearing the declaration that Adrien likes Kagami from Adrien himself that makes her reevaluate.
