Bular and Gunmar have the best father son relationship in the show
Bular and Gunmar comunicate, care for eachother, miss eachother, gunmar is willing to disipline bular without resorting to mind control or other horrible things gunmar does to other people, bular tries to get him out even with years and years and years of him having little to no influence on bulars life outside of maybe a few conversations via fetch and bular still loves his dad enough to try and get him out the darklands even though his dads a jerk everyone hates, gunmar sends a angrily threatened gnome with a equally angry message telling in explicit detail who he will kill becouse jim killed his son and we see him actively mourn bular, and i actually felt kinda bad for the human eating mind controling son of a snail.
they just genuinely have the best father son relationship in the show, I mean gunmar hasnt actively gotten bular in a situation they will get him killed or hurt or pulled away so hard his son thinks it might be his fault for not being strong enough to be his son.
please note i am not counting Aaarrrgh as a father, he is the biggest brother though if he were say tobys dad he would knock all dad competition out of the water including surrogate kinda fathers that get you killed/try to kill you in blinky and stricklander
