HOLY FUCK WHO WANTS TO SEE THE BEST VOLTRON VIDEO EVER
TOO BAD IT’S HERE
I’ve been wanting to say something for a long time and this incredible video just doubled the feeling…
It took me 4 seasons to realize that Voltron isn’t about Voltron.
In the beginning all the flash-bang might keep you sidetracked, but as the story gets progressively deeper, the real issues start to emerge. The Paladins as individuals - their internal struggles and their destiny collision with the other characters, all spell out a deeper plot is no longer about robots and alien invasions. Instead of being a grand legendary tale of defeating evil with super-weapons, it becomes a much more personal, intimate view of those living through it. The paladins are young and stumbling, each with their own emotional baggage, trying to do the right thing. With them, we being to see how they are being forces to repeat the fate of the old paladins before them. They’re desperate for hope. This is especially true of how Shiro and Keith’s arcs intertwine, like the hidden structure of a building only revealed by time and hindsight. But I digress. Take a look at this video, and look back on all the times Shiro has appeared.
Shiro is the most developed character at this point in the show. We’ve seen more through his eyes than through anyone else’s, we’ve seen his fears and his hopes and his struggles. We’ve watched him try so hard and get ruthlessly beaten down again and again. We connect to him in a visceral, personal way, we see ourselves in him. We’re rooting for him. He appeals to our natural human instinct to protect someone who is hurt and vulnerable. We have become so connected to these characters that we can now only see the story through their painful, fractured pov, and it makes the story so much stronger because of it.
I believe the one of the reason why the Clone!Shiro issue is so glaring, why Shiro now feels so “off” is that every since he dissappeared after the fight with Zarkon, after his “escape” episode, we never see the story from Shiro’s pov again. After such a long time of him being the biggest part of how we perceived the world, now it’s just…nothing. Gone. We see through other characters, but there’s a blank space where Shiro used to be.
I laughed way harder at this moment from a new SpongeBob than I should have…

“I’m not a feeling”
