Some of you guys need to learn how to shut the hell up and start thinking with your own independent mind instead of blindly following some bullshit fandom agenda.

Stop turning what happened to Josh Keaton and his family into an ‘anti versus shaladin’ situation. Stop making posts ‘condemning’ antis, or telling them to leave the fandom. You sound ridiculous. The people who sent hate to Josh didn’t do it because they were antis; they did it because they were idiotic, hateful, spineless assholes who decided that threatening others was the way to satisfy their own useless existence. Quit devolving it to some kind of ship war. ‘Ships’ may have been the kickstarter for the actions of these jackasses, but it was their individual choice to be monsters. Anyone, regardless of ships, is capable of that kind of blind hatred. So stop framing it as an ‘anti’ thing and realize that anyone full of themselves can be that kind of person.

Stop mentioning Josh Keaton in your tumblr and twitter posts, and just leave the man the hell alone. You may be genuine in your attempts at helping, but he owes you nothing, and I wouldn’t blame him if he avoids social media for a while. Mr. Keaton may have shared his opinion with the world wide web, but he’s under no obligation to follow-up on it, and we’re not privy to his entire private life and thought process. 

Move on. Your takeaway from all this shouldn’t be “I knew [shippers] were the devil!” Instead, you should be thinking something along the lines of, “Wow it sure is weird that people allow themselves to become so obsessive and warped about things on the internet. Even if I agree with some of their reasoning, or even if I reject their thought process entirely, I should be more cautious about how I act on the internet and realize that my actions do, actually, follow me offline.”

There’s a fine line between the actions of the individual and the group. Group opinion can influence the extremity of someone’s beliefs, but it’s ultimately the person themselves who chooses how to act.

In case anyone is baffled by this, there’s a Tchaikovsky piece in which there’s supposed to be a loud sound but he never specified what you should use to make that sound. People have done all kinds of weird shit depending on how they think the sound should, well, sound. Hitting a large piece of wood with a sledgehammer is a relatively conventional one.
