Can’t really celebrate mermaids without acknowledging how we’re threatening their (hypothetical) natural habitat, can we? We need the ocean to be healthy and functioning just as much as mermaids do, so next time you go grocery shopping, consider some things (if you don’t already): bringing your own (cloth) bag or backpack, skipping the plastic bottle drinks, and opting for bar soap over plastic-bottle body wash with microplastic. Maybe there’s even an unwrapped salad next to the plastic-wrapped one. We all know what we “should” do to be nicer to the environment, so I will leave this as a friendly reminder: Let’s save the mermaids!
