kungfood is an underrated episode imo! We got so many cool things this ep

•a villain with a pretty legitimate reason

•a wide yet not crowded assortment of characters (Alya’s mom, Jagged, etc.)

•Mari being badass as Ladybug (although that’s like all the time lol)

•Mari talking to Adrien normally

•Mari standing up to Chloe in front of Adrien

•Adrien calling out Chloe’s ignorance and shutting her rudeness down

•(kinda like the prior one but) Adrien not defending Chloe for being a b**** which YAY because sometimes he tries to even when she’s in the wrong

•Adrien being a supportive friend to Mari

•Adrien being allowed out of the house

•Adrien being praised for his Mandarin

•Adrien encouraging how Mari defended herself alone with her uncle to Chloe

•representation of Mari’s Chinese culture! … but not in the best way :/

•Marinette being absolutely adorable and dorky

•Adrien talking with Mari about her insecurities

•Alya being a sneaky genius matchmaker

•Mari being able to experience a bit of the fame life outside of being LB as the World’s Greatesr Chef’s neice

I Just Realized Something And Now I’m Sad.

Adrien Agreste is such a tragic character. This entire weekend I’ve been binging Miraculous Ladybug and right now I’m on the episode Syren. These entire past two seasons there’s been this thing bugging me and it’s my pity for Chat Noir/Adrien.

Adrien is such a sweet boy with so much charm, he cares for everyone, and like Ladybug, he wants to help save people. So much that I’ve noticed that in every episode he’s the first one at the scene with an annoying pun ready, and the first thing he does is try to distract the villain from the victim or lighten a usually bad situation with a flirty remark or pun.

To joke in the kinds of situations he and LB usually find themselves in may seem careless, but in reality its insanely brave and proves how unconditional his heroism is.

At school and as Adrien, Adrien is quiet, kind, respectful, and graceful. He never raises his voice– no matter if it’s his dad being an absolute jackass or if Chloe is just being, well, Chloe– and his patience is astounding. This kid has a busy schedule and yet he always seems able to smile and is willing to put up with fans.

Adrien is a wonderful boy who just wants people to be happy, and what does he get in return?

His father ignores him, Natalie and the Gorilla are distant, his mother– who he is obviously very close to– is gone, he can’t do anything out of free will, and he has to put up with so much shit just to appease his father. As Chat Noir he is able to be himself and get away from his cage of a home, but even then it feels like nobody trusts him and everyone underestimates him. Sure, he saves Ladybug and does save the day every now and then, but he gets zero recognition for it. Ladybug is the one with all the fame.

Adrien hates lies and yet that’s all everyone he’s close to has ever done: lie. His father about his mother, Natalie about what his father does, Ladybug about who Master Fu was/who she is, Plagg on the secrets of the miraculous… It doesn’t matter if they were white lies or lies that could protect him, Adrien has still been lied to throughout his entire life and just knowing that is enough to sting.

He doesn’t feel treasured by anyone aside from Ladybug and doubts anyone aside from her could ever feel that way about him. I’m assuming he knows Marinette has a crush on him based off what we saw in the latest episodes, but who wouldn’t? He’s a model, and in that department the love is a bit more generalized than personal. Not only that, but he has been alone throughout his entire life. He has never truly felt love from anyone besides his missing mother.

Long Story Short: Adrien needs more love. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
