So… I get the feeling Retsuko wasn’t actually too eager to start dating Haida. I don’t blame her, of course, ‘cause on one hand she had just broken up with her boyfriend, with whom she had been “deeply in love” with, and on the other, she had already seen that Haida wasn’t really “compatible” with her plan of getting married and becoming a housewife. In the end she goes on about “when things don’t turn out the way you wanted, you just shrug it off and keep living.” So I think it might actually take her some time to truly start appreciating Haida as something more than a friend :’)
