i’ve been thinking about black paladin lance and i know all of us lance stans want him to be black paladin, but there’s a part of me that just tells me that he’s not ready yet. because when he tried to become black paladin it was because he wanted to assure himself that he had a place in the team. there’s no doubt that lance is a great strategist and that would make him a great leader…. he knows the entire team’s weaknesses and strengths. except his own. he doesn’t see how valuable of an asset he is and doesn’t see what he really does for the team. i think that one of the most important parts of being black paladin is that they need to know what their own strengths are and what their limits are so that they can form a cohesive image of how to use every part of the team to the advantage. and i think this is what his arc is supposed to be. so when lauren said that “he needs someone self-assured,” honestly? i think he needs himself to be self-assured. and i know that’s probably not what lauren meant and she probably meant it in a romantic context, but tbh… i think that’s what lance really needs.
