- he loves Marinette to pieces, but he isn’t in love with her, and he worries he’ll never be able to express how deeply he cares about her without having to bring himself to act like he’s romantically interested, because it’s so hard to navigate relationships without that framework

- being able to fully truthfully call Ladybug and Chat Noir “hot” is the closest thing he can get to feeling normal, because everything else around him seems to convince him otherwise – whether it’s the ice cream man’s over-insistence on romantic compatibility, or knowing that people often assume all aros to be heartless, he just wonders if Marinette will accept him and if they can ever be emotionally closer than they are now without the romance to go with it
