Hi! My name is Radek and I’m a 20-year-old trans man from Poland.

I live in a country where the situation of LGBT+ people is not very good and getting only worse and worse. Poland is ruled by a right-wing, nationalist, ultra-Catholic government. I don’t feel very safe here. I suffer from depression and anxiety since I was 12. My ribs hurt really bad from constant binding and I have problems with breathing. My mental health is in a really bad state lately. Since I dropped out of university because of this reason, I get no financial support from my parents. I’m unable to find a job and I barely have any money to pay my bills and eat. The only thing stopping me from living a decent life is my gender marker and metrical name. To change it, I have to undergo top surgery and then literally sue my parents, because that’s how law works in Poland. There is no way I can afford that without a job and even I would somehow find one, it would take me years to save money. 

That’s why I decided I need to ask you, dear people, for help. I started an international fundraiser campaign. If you can’t donate, please share. Every help is greatly appreciated! Lots of love for you all!

Ship figureheads were made to ward off dangerous mermaids. 

Because mermaids can grow to be gigantic, they assess each other based on size. By adding a figurehead, mermaids would mistake the entire ship to be a scary deep-sea mermaid – leaving the crew and vessel alone.

However having a ship figurehead can lure actual scary deep-sea mermaids.

Many “kraken” attacks are just deep-sea mermaids giving a tentacled greeting to the strange, lonely, wood covered mermaid carrying humans on its back. Unfortunately, their tentacled “handshake” destroys the ship, leaving the traumatized mermaid believing they had murdered their own kin.
