Melanistic Barn Owl (I never thought I’d get to see one of these!!)

Based on what happened when me and my bro at a party.
If Stanley has the protective sibling instinct then Stanford does as well.
Stan isn’t a lightweight, Ford drank super strong stuff like Cosmic Sand in the portal. So now watery beers are nothing.
Bonus that I couldn’t fit into the post

Pls don’t tag as St//ance//st people get flushed when they’re slammed

“You’re going to love him, Shiro, you’ll see.”
Keith introduces his human crush to his boyfriend 🖤
Keith compares them with a shell.
“He’s not a shell,” his mate scoffs with a pout, glaring at him without heat. “His eyes are the shell’s color”
Ah, that’s pretty then.
Shiro hums, tilting his head to the side as he stares at the small but pretty shell in the merman’s hands. It’s one of the first gifts he gave to Keith at the beginning of their courtship and probably Keith’s most loved treasure.
It had taken a few movements for Shiro to find the right shell to give his lover back then. But it had been worth it by the way Keith had coo in awe whenever the deep blue shell would shift into silver whenever it was hit with the right light.
It’s oddly enchanting to see that very same smile in his mate’s face all over again but for an entirely different reason.
“A human?” Shiro repeats his mate’s words from earlier, voice quiet with curiosity.
Keith nods excited, smile shy but hopeful. “Yeah, he’s amazing.”
You’re amazing, Shiro’s mind replies by instinct but keeps it to himself. But, not being one to pass the change to show affection to his mate, he reaches out to stroke Keith’s right cheek.
The younger merman leans towards the touch with a content sigh, smiling lovingly back at him and Shiro’s heart flutters at the sight.
“Who is he?” Shiro asks quietly, sneaking a glance towards the shell between them. Keith beams back at him, his own hands stroking the surface of the shell in a fond way.
“He’s Lance.”

“Oh,” the human - Lance - breaths out as soon as Shiro pops out of the water, the pretty shells in his eyes widening at the same time his cheeks grow red. That’s lovely, Shiro thinks. “Wow, um, you’re - you’re gorgeous, wow.”
Shiro blinks and all of the sudden, the sun’s heat grows on his face.
“I know,” Keith laughs quietly, sharing a look with Lance before he sends a fond look at his mate. “Shiro is gorgeous.”
Shiro snickers with a bashful smile, nudging his mate playfully with his left arm before he looks back at Lance. “Thank you,” he whispers softly, stomach doing a fun flip when the lovely human before him beams at him.
“Keith talked a lot about you,” Lance whispers, shifting on his spot on the flat rock and sitting with his legs crossed. Huh, those are flexible. “Like, a lot!”
Shiro coos at the news, poking his mate’s cheek playfully to get rid of the sudden pout in his face. “Aw, Akira, you’re such a sap.”
“Stoop,” Keith mumbles, cheeks heating up at the use of his first name, the intimacy of it coming from his mate’s lips never failing to miss a heartbeat.
Shiro just coos harder.
“You two are lovely together,” Lance whispers quietly then, sending them both a soft look and Shiro’s chest burns at the longing he sees behind those eyes.
“You’re lovely,” Shiro blurts out, his own eyes mimicking the shock and surprise both Lance and Keith shot at him. “Um.”
He pouts embarrassed when he catches Keith’s lips slowly curling into a sly grin, eyes narrowed in gleeful suspicion. Shiro waves him away with a small glare before he looks back at the human in front of them.
Lance just blinks back at him, pretty blue eyes wide in surprise and the heat on his face seems to be getting out of hand.
“Oh, thank - thank you, hah,” he whispers at last, tucking some of his hair behind his ear as he ducks his head shyly. Shiro hears Keith cooing at the display, already swimming closer to Lance to poke his cheek playfully and the older merman can’t help but understand Keith’s fixation on the brunet.
He’s so lovely.

Shiro watches in silence as Lance’s boat get farther away from their reach, heading towards the shore as the sun sets behind them.
Keith’s still waving goodbye at him, a soft smile on his lips. Shiro stares at the sight of his mate being so content before he smiles to himself.
“Hey,” he calls quietly, smile widening when Keith’s eyes settle back on him. “We need to go find a new shell.”
Keith blinks slowly in confusion before his entire face lights up.
“I told you he was lovely.”
I can’t describe the happy sound I let out when I finished reading this. I love it so so so so much, thank you!!!!
